How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.

Verified reviewThe personal was extremely nice and helpfull. Of course there were not many services available but it was expected. Everything was clean at all times. The hotel was very comfortable, perfect to explore the city or for those who are traveling for business. The breakfast was really nice, coffe was served quickly and the food was fresh and in perfect state, they had everything one would expect for breakfast (i.e. eggs, fruits, bread, yogurt, etc.) and it was included in the price, wich is very nice in a city as expensive as Zurich. The hotel is extremely well located, I arrived from the airport in about 40 minutes, it is a direct connection and is hard to get lost. You have a lot of restaurantes if you want to eat out, and there are many convenience stores nearby in case you are looking for something quicker and cheaper. They even let you an umbrella at the room, it feels like everything is taken care off to make your stay easy. Its the perfect hotel if you want to arrive and check out quickly.
I did not like the way the beadshets were dispossed, it was only one thin layer of bedspread and did not seem comfy enough. However, it might be a personal or cultural things, I have seen similar bedspreads when traveling trough Germany. It always seems od to me but is probably normal here.

Verified reviewWhen I arrived after 8 on the Monday I was booked into a room above the bar, not as requested..three months ago. Lady on duty knew nothing about my request. The lady was grumpy about trying to find me another room..I was given another..not the best. And there were NO towels in the room . I walked downstairs to ask for towels..guy on duty was not friendly. Gave me two old bath towels.
Staff friendl;iness. Breakfast girls were very helpfull.

Staff wasn’t welcoming. Fine but not friendly. We chose this hotel because it advertised air conditioning. It barely operated and a sign that said it was summer and air conditioning was trying does not excuse the lack of air conditioning.

The hotel claims to have air conditioning, but the units are underpowered and not able to handle the heat in August. They gave us fans as well, which did help a bit.

Verified reviewLocation was close to the station and attractions are within walking distance. The bed was comfortable and loved the note on the bed with an offer of various other pillows (for sinus or neck pain for example, if required.
The aircon was working but not strong enough.

Verified reviewThe hotel is close to the train station and located in a great part of town. You can't hear the trains and it is a short walk to the hotel. The staff is wonderful and glad to help. The airconditioning is not the best. The staff did provide fans to help offset that. The breakfast is very good.

Poor facilities and room is very stuffy. No circulation of air and air conditioning is poor and not cool enough to give comfort. Price is exceptionally high given the cubicle size and lack of facilities.

Verified reviewGood location our room was big - but probably due to it being a corner room - ac worked well - something to watch in Europe as a lot of hotels don’t have ac - it was 33 degrees outside - breakfast generic hotel style
When we arrived we felt like we were coming into a backpackers hotel the carpet in the entrance was grubby - not a great first impression. The receptionist was a bit confrontational saying “ you are two but you have booked for only ONE ! On Woops I didn’t click two on the app my mistake - then said -30 euros more - ok watch out for that one ! The room was pretty good but the radiator in the bathroom had a lot of dust on it - god knows how a cleaner could have missed that it was very obvious - annoyingly the bath/ shower was very slow to drain .

Verified reviewThe Sorell is located very close to the main train station and to the historic part of the city. Absolutely perfect for our first time in Zurich, The room is clean - loved that it had no carpet. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast had lots of options.
The bath area had little storage or a towel rack near the sink. Also had little lighting.
