How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThis was my 3rd trip to Switzerland, and Sleep and Go Budget in Interlaken has been one of the most amazing stays I’ve had. Truly excellent value for money – the rooms are very clean and the staff go out of their way to be extremely friendly and helpful. The food is an absolute highlight – the Indian dishes like potato parathas, chicken biryani, and chicken tikka were simply out of this world! Having such authentic comfort food in the heart of Switzerland was a delightful surprise. The location is perfect: just a 10-minute walk from Interlaken OST, 2 minutes from Harder Kulm, and set right on the riverfront making for beautiful views. On top of that, they offer a free drop-off service to Interlaken OST and nearby areas, which makes getting around so convenient. I couldn’t have asked for a better combination of comfort, hospitality, and location. Highly recommended – I’ll definitely be coming back!

It’s kind of noisy when someone talks outside or in the hall it’s kind of loud. Also it’s a 15 minute walk to get to the other side of the river and if it’s raining it’s kind of annoying

For the price, please add the option for an additional fan in each room. And more towels. Hard to sleep w the heat.

We always value guest feedback, but I would like to clarify a few points: Each room is already equipped with one fan, which we believe is sufficient given the available space. Adding a second fan is not practical due to room size and layout. We also encourage guests to use the windows for natural ventilation. Towels are provided for every guest. This is the standard everywhere, and we do not limit or reduce this service. However, we cannot provide unlimited extra sets for a single person. Regarding pricing: we do not charge extra for fans or towels, and we have maintained this policy for many years. In over 13 years of hosting, no guest has ever been willing to pay extra for additional in-room amenities, even when requested. We always aim to provide fair value and comfort within the standards of our accommodation. While we understand your concerns, we believe we already offer what is reasonable for the price. It is difficult to walk if you have luggage from interlaken OST train station to hotel during check-in. But the view is very nice if you will walk without luggage. Walking around 10 minutes.

It’s a normal walk—there is no need to cross difficult terrain or use pedestrian-only paths. There are two possible walking routes: 1. Along the river, which is a quiet, village-style path. 2. Along the main road, where both cars and pedestrians are allowed. We always recommend the second option—the main road—because it is more direct, better lit, and easier to follow. For this reason, we send detailed instructions and a map link to every guest before arrival. Unfortunately, many guests do not check these messages, which sometimes causes confusion. We understand that walking with luggage can be tiring, especially in summer. In that case, we recommend taking a taxi from the station—our reception team is happy to help arrange one for you. Hotel transport may also be available, depending on the time, but this is not guaranteed. We truly appreciate your understanding, and we’re always here to help make your stay more comfortable. My father left his backpack outside the reception and somehow somebody found that and the driver even brought the backpack to train station to us! We could have used 2 extra towels and the shared bathroom shower was extremely small with no place to hang up towels or change of clothes etc.
