Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. The only thing that would have improved our stay was air conditioning. The week we were here, the temperatures were in the 90s and so this is likely not normally a problem. We were given fans and this made it workable, but air conditioning would have been nice. I think it would have been cooler had we opened the windows but I didn't want to take the chance of being bitten by mosquitos.
The staff was excellent. The rooms were fantastic. Very clean and very spacious.

Parking is shared with the restaurant so it can be hard to find a space when the restaurant is busy.
Property is clean and quiet. The location is convenient to Schaffhausen and Zurich. The restaurant is excellent but busy. There are other restaurants in walking distance as well. Easy check in. Lots of places to walk.

Clean and comfortable, great Italian restaurant across the street, nice trail along a creek across the road. Breakfast was good.

There were no employees on site. This made us feel a little uncomfortable
Our room was comfortable. We liked having an air conditioner, and the shower was walk-in, a great feature for older guests.

Not good value for money. Horrendously expensive!
The Hotel was fine as much but horrendously expensive!! Very poor value for money. We had stayed in a much nicer hotel the night before at less than 1/3 of the price. I don't know how the price can be justified, even in Switzerland!

The towels smell bad and I found hair when drying my hands. The cleaning needs to be upped. Breakfast was just average.
Beds were comfortable, rooms were spacious, bathroom was good.

It is a self check in hotel - there is no contact with a person. While it is amazing technology, it is not for me. You open the front door and your room with your smart phone. I'm sure the younger generation likes it though. I missed the human interaction with a receptionist and felt uncomfortable without the presence of staff there. They are there at the end of the phone if you need them though. I had occasion to contact them as I preferred a room that didn't have a slanted roof and the gentleman came immediately and arranged for a different room. Thank you.
Comfortable bed. Fairly new and nice bathroom.

- Checking and payment process was digital which is not so bad, but they only communicated by emails in German.. I asked to send me the instructions in English but they didn’t. They assigned us a room sort of to ease our checkin process, but it found to be bad as the room location was bad - Our room (#101) was located just above the restaurant entrance, and as we slept with an open window we kept hearing loud talks just below our room which was very annoying and disturbing.
A modern restaurant hotel, with small yet very clean and modern rooms. While sleeping area is a bit small and you kind of squeezing in, the bathroom/ area is very big and has everything you need. All facilities were at new condition and minibar sift drinks are complimentary. Surprisingly, while this looks like a new modern hotel, it had sort of an air condition machine which was quite big and set at the side of the room as if it doesn’t belong to it and against its modern decoration. Breakfast was OK.. basic food ( bread/ cheese/ yogurt etc..) no vegetables and boiled eggs . We asked for scrambled eggs and the lady there was very kind and make it for is with a big smile. Restaurant is relatively expensive, but just across the street there is a nice Italian restaurant where we had good dinner.
