How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWe absolutely loved our stay at Nicole’s place. The apartment felt so welcoming and cozy, with so many thoughtful touches that made it really special. It was spotless and had everything one could need, which made it feel like a true home, not just a rental. Nicole was also very kind and communicative, which made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. We would be happy to stay here again!

Verified reviewThe flat is really cozy, I liked everything 👍 Very close to the lift, which we really benefited from. There is everything you might need in the flat, maybe except for a microwave. Nicole is a very friendly host, we were provided with all the necessary details.

Verified reviewThis was the cheapest accommodation we could find in Zermatt, but even so, it still cost over 200 CHF per night… The kitchen was a great feature!
1. The staircase is extremely steep and long. It was very difficult to carry our suitcases up the narrow stairs. After finally bringing them up, we reached the mailbox and the front door to collect the key—but from there, we still had to carry our luggage up three more flights of stairs to get to the room. This is very inconvenient for travelers with large suitcases. 2. Since this is a rental apartment, we initially thought the whole building would be used for rentals. However, it turned out the host only rents out two units, and the rest are occupied by local residents. We didn’t play any music or watch TV, but just blow-drying our hair around 9 p.m. caused a neighbor to ring the doorbell and knock on our door—honestly, it was quite scary. At this price, if I had known about these two issues, I probably would have chosen to stay in a hotel instead.
Dear guest, We’re glad to hear you appreciated the fully equipped kitchen and found our accommodation to be one of the most affordable options in Zermatt. We understand your concerns regarding the stairs. As Zermatt is a historic mountain resort, many traditional buildings—ours included—do not have elevators, and stairs are a common feature throughout the village. While this may not suit everyone, it is part of the charm and character of staying in an authentic alpine resort. Regarding your experience with the neighbors: the building is shared between half holiday apartments and half locals, which often offers guests a more authentic and definitely peaceful stay. Our neighbors have been always very welcoming, and we regret that your interaction felt uncomfortable. It’s possible there was a misunderstanding, and we’ll follow up to ensure a respectful atmosphere for all. Your feedback is valuable, and we’ll continue working to make our guests’ stays as comfortable as possible. We hope you still enjoyed the beauty and magic of Zermatt and wish you all the best on your future travels. Warm regards, Nicole

The stairs. One big flight of stairs outside and then up to level 3 inside. So pack light.

Verified reviewVery cosy.
Small kitchen and bathroom. Would help if there was a microwave to assist in cooking your meals. Would have been go to known about the free bus instead of having to walk to the property which is at the end of the Main Street. Or you could pay 30 Swiss francs for a private taxi.
Dear Stephen, Thank you very much for choosing to stay with us. We’re happy to hear that you found the accommodation cosy and enjoyed your stay overall. We’d like to kindly clarify that the local bus service is not free by default. Guests can use it either by purchasing a bus ticket or by showing a valid same-day ski pass, gondola, or funicular ticket. This information is included in our welcome booklet and is also shared with guests a few days prior to arrival via the canva booklet. We truly appreciate your comments and hope to welcome you again in the future! Nicole

Verified reviewComfortable bed. Chocolates and nice touches. Good communication with Nicole and easy check in. Nice seating and sleeping area. Kitchen was well stocked with stove top. Helpful info book. Easy walk or bus to everything. There was a ski locker downstairs. But we rented skis by the gondola, so we stored them there as it was a little 5 min. walk. Not too far though and pretty. Price was good for the area. We took a taxi to the studio on the way there but walked our bags to the train station when we left 10 mins. Easy peasy.
The stairs! It was a couple of flights up to the mail box and entrance then another 3 flights up to the apt. The stairwell did not seem to have lights on in the evening which were could never figure out how to turn on so we had to use our phones. Tiny kitchen and bathroom. If you are good with a ton of stairs and don't have big bags, it's great.

Verified reviewGreat location to walk with skis to Matterhorn Express Gondola. (Bus stop is close, too.) Also a close walk to the center of town.. Quiet, residential building away from the noisy après bars and foot traffic. Comfortable studio with sunny balcony and nicely equipped little kitchen. Very clean and tidy. Warm. Ski room a few steps from street level. Responsive host.
Tiny bathroom sink due to this being a studio, but workable given the ample size of the rest of the unit, tranquil balcony, efficient kitchen and ideal location. (I just placed the bath mat below the sink.) I would stay here again.

Verified reviewExcellent location close to Matterhorn Glacier paradise. Proper double bed and kitchen with all necessary things, including Nespresso machine and capsules. Nicole was very helpful and instructions to get the keys, as well as to the ski room and the apartment were very easy to follow.
Ski room is a bit basic. No lift to the 3rd floor. The sink in the bathroom is tiny. But overall nothing to complain about.
