Gym, pool and wellness room were small but great to use in the morning. Room was functional.

Had expected something more 'grand'. I guess the place was posh in the past but has lost some of its glory.

Staff was wonderful, helpful and attentive throughout. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good though not amazing, mostly choice a bit limited. But compensated by beautiful view.

The gym is not really well equipped, weight options extremely limited.

The view was amazing and it was just a beautiful and nice hotel! We had a great experience and all the staff was very nice and helpful. We had a nice clean room and the pool area was nice as Well. We Can definitely recommend Hotel Tobler.

The breakfast was okay, but a little boring and some of the bread was a little stale.

The property is very clean, close enough to town to walk, and the rooms are spacious. Bathrooms are small but very functional and well equipped. Wonderful water pressure for the shower. The staff is amazing and very helpful and it felt like you are a special guest. Very attentive.

Only thing is that after 6 pm, or maybe earlier I can’t recall, there is no food service available. That’s the only issue especially if you don’t have a car because you will need to walk into town to get anything. My husband and son had lunch at the restaurant and said it was delicious. The breakfast was delicious with plenty of food, but not much variety day-to-day, but that was OK with us!

Very nice and helpful personnel. We expected to be able to eat dinner in the hotels restaurant, but it closed at 18:30. This was disturbing as we came by public transport and due to knee problems we could only go from and to the hotel by hotel shuttle- but this service was not available after 17:00. That tainted the good experience somewhat. We ate in our room instead sharing dinner in a restaurant for my husbands birthday.

This is a delightful hotel in a lovely elevated position with excellent views over Lago Maggiore and the surrounding country. Plenty of car parking on site. Comfortable and well-equipped bedroom with a comfortable sitting room attached. Excellent breakfast with a very good selection of very good hot and cold food. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Very nice and impeccably clean, small indoor swimming pool. The larger outdoor swimming pool was covered during my stay at the hotel.

The only disappointment is that there is no restaurant in the hotel and there is only one restaurant with a very limited menu in a nearby hotel.

A nice place to stay. About a 10 minute walk to the waterfront in Ascona. Hotel had great views of the lake. Good facilities and really friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for you. Breakfast buffet excellent. Overall a really good stay

A little dated but probably adds to its charm

The name Tobler evokes thoughts of chocolatey indulgence; fittingly, this hotel delivers sweet experiences from start to finish! We have stayed in Hotel Tobler in Ascona a few times now and really admire the delightful family-run atmosphere, as well as enjoy its prime location overlooking Lake Maggiore. The warm and welcoming hospitality made our stay feel personalised and comfortable. The hotel’s peaceful setting, nestled amidst lush greenery, provided a serene escape with easy access to Ascona’s charming town centre. A standout experience was the delicious Torta Caprese served at breakfast—rich, moist, and the perfect indulgence to start the day. I even asked if I could have the recipe and the breakfast staff organised this so that I have a handwritten recipe form Fausto in the kitchen . A big thank you to all of the staff and I will treasure this recipe particularly as it is gluten free and perfect to serve to guests who have allergies Whilst relaxing in the spacious garden and enjoying the stunning views, Hotel Tobler blends traditional charm with modern comfort, making it a memorable stay.

It was great for a relaxed family holiday by the pool. The pool had sun all day and we had a great time, including our 4 year old daughter.

No air con in one of the rooms in our double room suite.

Excellent breakfast, great location, outdoor pool area very nice and spacious! Staff was very caring and helpful! Good price/value

During hot summer months if there is no air conditioning, good and efficient ventilators would be needed!

Location and friendliness of the staff was exceptional! Nice pool area.

Overall the facilities are outdated and not corresponding to the hotel rating. Breakfast was rather poor quality in terms of products served.

Very steep hill to walk back up from Ascona and no nighttime courtesy bus to help bring solo travellers.
