It was hot!

We've often stayed in this comfortable hotel; it's not huge and impersonal but on a human scale. The location is ideal: it's close to the excellent public transport and an easy walk across the river to the city or around Kleine Basel. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient, the breakfasts are excellent and provided in a very attractive, light and airy dining area opening on to the gardens. There is a range of good facilities.

Like other hotels, the room has no air conditioning, but only a fan, which is not very effective in cooling the space. The only source of ventilation is the window, but with temperatures around 30°C, it can be difficult to sleep without suffering from the heat. Therefore, in summer it is advisable to stay only for short periods.

Hotel in a central location, convenient for moving freely around the city. The property offers a space where guests can use the coffee machine free of charge, as well as full access to the minibar in the room. The professionalism and courtesy of the staff, along with the cleanliness, were much appreciated.

No air conditioning, it was a hot day, so a fan helped just a bit. Opened windows are OK, when traffic is low (during the night).

Lovely hotel with very helpful and friendly stuff. The location is great, almost next to bus/tram stop. Handy free Basel card - for free public transport and discounts for some museums. I had a room with balcony, so spent my evening there with a nice view.

Only minor comments. The room had no air con so it did heat up during the day but temperature was acceptable at night. Limited selection of cold meats at breakfast - somewhat unusual for a central European hotel in our experience.

The hotel is located a 5mins walk from the Rhine and next to a busy road but the hotel was surprisingly quiet and peaceful. Trams are nearby for transfers across the city e.g. across the bridge over the Rhine to the old town. Our room overlooked a quiet, shady garden that offered very welcome relief from the hot weather. Free tea and coffee was available at all times and could be enjoyed when relaxing in the garden. The room had good facilities: an enormous bed, good lighting and a fully equipped bathroom (but no bath). Good buffet breakfast with plenty of fruit, bread, cheese and pastries. Some cooked food too. Other facilities: Kids play room (very good for families with small children) and small gym available. Staff very welcoming and pleasant throughout our stay.

No AC in room, the street traffic and the fan provided is too loud to sleep when windows opened. This only counts on hotter summer days - otherwise it is not a problem at all.

Breakfast, location, free coffe & refreshers, game room, nice and peaceful garden, cleanliness, friendly staff. Worth the money.

The room was really warm in summer. There was a fan and the window opened quite wide but it was stuffy weather so the fan was just blowing hot air around. I imagine the insulation would be good in winter.

The staff were really friendly, we were able to check in early when we initially arrived to drop our bags off, which was nice. The hotel and room was clean and spacious. The free drinks and coffee were a nice touch and the complimentary drinks in the room were good, and also replaced during our stay. The bathroom was clean and the shower pressure was good. Location was really close to transport links and getting around the city and to/from the airport was easy. The area felt safe.

The hotel is really easy to access off the main road & a short walk from the old town. Very comfortable beds. Wonderful breakfast!

The only negative point was when we went to the car park to leave at 4:45 am for our flight, our car had been blocked by another car that had been allowed to park in front of us. That made us very stressed so I want to thank the security guard for moving the car quickly and allowing us to leave on time

We only spent one night there but as we arrived early, the woman at reception upgraded us to give us a room straight away, so thank you for that. The room and staff were lovely. We had a nice stay.

Friendly welcome and they accommodated our early check in request. Unlimited tea and coffee available and the mini bar in the room was complimentary and topped up each day, very much appreciated. Very close to tram stop making travel very easy.

Great location right near the tram stop, and they give you a free travel pass for the public transit system. Staff were very helpful and even got us a cab at 3:30 a.m.! Family room was comfortable for 3 adults.

All we needed for a 2 night stay. Comfy, clean and walking distance to the town centre and the river. They even gave us free public transport passes as part of our booking so we could use the trams or buses. Would definitely stay again. Staff were always friendly and helpful, and we were even able to check in a bit earlier after requesting it.
