How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewYou cannot fault the location - so close to the bus station, and a short walk to cafes and shops, and of course to the lake. And yet, being so close to everything it was also very quiet. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the breakfast had many options and we always got a table, even though we were in Lugano during the Swiss National Day long weekend (a happy accident)! The beds were comfortable and there were different pillows to choose from. The shower was good, and the included toiletries were a shampoo/body wash and a conditioner. We stayed in the suite and there was an additional sink in the bedroom. Air conditioning was only in the front room, it the bedroom, but it flowed into the bedroom so that was fine. We hadn’t stayed in a 3-star for several years and we were blown away by how lovely the whole stay was!
There isn’t much to say that’s negative. The only tiny point is that the suite is slightly split level, so it’s a bit of a trip hazard at night.

Verified reviewWe had a nice room which had recently be renovated, aircon worked, also our room faced to the back - so it was overall pretty quiet (it is in the City still). Location was great, very central. We parked in front, 25 CHF a day, which is a lot cheaper than surrounding parking lots. Only limited parking spaces available so I recommend writing the hotel in advance and reserve a parking if you need it. Staff was super nice.
Breakfast was nice, but breakfast room a bit less cozy.
Thank you for your good review. We are happy that you had a good stay in our hotel We look forward to your next visit. Yours sincerely, Sylvia Martinez Front Office Manager / Vice Direttrice

Verified reviewLocation is very good
My son is allergic to egg yolk. As we needed some warm food for him I kindly asked for a ONE fried egg for him. One! But lady showed me the scrambled eggs done. I explained the problem. She hasn’t even listen to me and with no no no simply disappeared in the kitchen 🤦♀️🤷♀️ The tables we not cleaned after guests finished their breakfast - and the breakfast was very very poor. For 350euro per night plus 25 for parking plus city tax for the simple room with no view with such poor breakfast and such attitude to clients I can’t recommend this place , sorry

Not because we don't want to. But we don't have a single egg. You didn't pay € 350.-- but CHF 274.--, it's different. Sylvia Martinez Front Office Manager / Vice Direttrice

Verified reviewNice, modern furnished junior suite, well isolated towards the main road, right at Lugano Centro main bus terminal, free bus pass for the length of our stay. Free piccolo sparkling wine. Breakfast buffet was good, many choices.
Bathroom flooded twice, drainage in shower needed cleaning or too small (rain shower head). Hotel has no lounge to rest, just breakfast room which can get pretty crowded. Some local choices at breakfast buffet would have spiced it up.
Thank you for your review and the maximum point for the cleanness, the beds and the position. Sylvia Martinez Front Office Manager / Vice Direttrice

Verified reviewOnly ok thing is the location.
Booked a superior room with a courtyard view and they gave us a small room with no view or balcony and with a bathroom nearly as big as the room itself then claimed that it met the size of the booking. Completely different photos from the booking and a lot smaller. Breakfast was terrible, did not eat it so don’t bother spending extra on the breakfast. Bottled juice and poor selection of pastries and jam. Receptionist was very rude upon checkin. Pillows were very hard and one of our towels had a pubic hair on it.
Dear guest, You booked a double room Privilege Premium and you received a Privilege Premium. Of course, not all our rooms have the same furnishings. The name of the room was given to all rooms with the same size. You will understand, that we can't make photos from every room. For breakfast we serve: - Different Types of bread - Butter - Various jam (even homemade) - Honey - Nutella - Various fruit juices - Several muesli - Various yoghurt - Various cheeses - Salami - Tomatoes - Cucumbers - Scrambled eggs with bacon - Hard-boiled eggs - Fresh fruit salad - Various fresh fruits - Coffee, espresso, cappuccino, latte, hot and cold chocolate, hot and cold Ovomaltina and hot and cold milk Let us know what we could offer you and what can we improve. I don't think I was rude to you. I tried politely to explain to you that you received the room category you booked. But you wouldn't listen. Furthermore, you weren't honest when booking. You booked for two people, but there were three of you. Even if it's a small child, it should have been declared when making the reservation. Sylvia Martinez Front Office Manager / Vice Direttrice
