Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandThe club is a bit far from everything, which makes it quiet I guess, but makes it relatively mandatory to rent a bike or a car (we don't recommend buses except if you have lots of time as, despite the information on touristic sites, they don't travel all days, sometimes stop early, and they might also stop you further than the place you're asking... on one day, they were only travelling on one side, not both as expected). We had found push bikes to tour the island, very easy to do (but avoid cycling or walking at night, it's full of roaming dogs, which are sometimes very aggressive).
Everything was nice. The room was very quiet and clean, the staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good. It was possible to swim/snorkel in front of the club (lots of colorful corals and fishes), the swimming pool was clean and fresh. The bar in the pool is awesome, with some of the best cocktails we ever had before. There is a nice "sundeck" facing the sea, from which you can easily spot whales cruising around. There are some events organized, like concert, games.

New ZealandRoom was average, our bed had a big sag in the middle of it. Curtains frayed and just generally a bit tired.
Breakfast is great, love the deck and being able to watch the whales go by.

United KingdomThe first stay pre Aitutaki was chaotic but it was very busy. The room booked was the 'Courtyard view' which was a mistake. Zero outside space and noisy, but more comfortable with a better room.
It's a friendly place with polite and usually helpful staff. Breakfast is nice enough and you pay extra for eggs and most protein. Great whale watching from the sun loungers. I stayed 2 nights in a 'Courtyard view' room, went to Aitutaki and then 2 nights 'Mountain view'. The first was a dated room overlooking passageways and not relaxing, I would have paid for an upgrade if it had been possible. The slightly better room was an enormous improvement. Staff try to be helpful, it's easy to get about by bus or taxi. The transfer driver to the sister hotel is very helpful also. Adults only is great!

New ZealandMusic around the pool is very loud with a playlist not unlike a country pub that has a dance floor, rooms are not the nicest (poor lighting, low quality uncomfortable pillows), the beach out the front is not very nice (no sand, narrow lagoon, quite exposed), resturant served cold ribs while charging close to premium pricing. Some of these things are to be expected with a more budget accommodation. I think if you want to get drunk by the pool every day, its a reasonable option, but if you want to read a book in a nice relaxing environment, you should probably stay somewhere else.
Accommodation is reasonably priced, there's a pool to have a dip in on a warm day. There is a quiet area down towards the beach side to the right if you want to get away from the very loud music at the pool.

New ZealandThe beach isn’t the best (rocks , not sand). Questionable food hygiene as I had a bad experience with the soy milk there and was sick. Muri beach is definitely a better side of the island but it’s worth while spending some time on both sides.
Stunning outside area, pool, bar and nice view. Clean and really nice room, big comfortable bed. Really nice staff. Also liked the option to go to Edgewater in a free shuttle - we used this a lot. Happy hour cocktails and entertainment was fun. Affordable too.

New ZealandIf I was to be picky, the bathroom was a bit run down the shower leaked so used alot of towels, the bed was a little on the hard side and our room had no t.v witch didn't bother us but might someone else. Also, the walls are really thin, so if you get noisy neighbors, it's not fun. That being said we enjoyed our stay here and would definitely go back clean tidy and wonderful staff.
Lovely staff, nice and clean, beautiful view, even saw whales swimming past playing while at the bar in the afternoons. Really enjoyed our stay here and would go back.
