Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandLeaving, next time we will stay for 4 weeks, 2 weeks is definitely not enough in Rarotonga.
JJ's is a Paradise Oasis, peaceful, beautiful surroundings, dip in the pool, walks throughout the amazing island gardens, beautiful night skies glistening with 100's of sparkling stars, fresh mornings a feast to the senses, a lovely overwhelming surprise, overall, so good for your general well-being, neighbours in the villa next door were young and lovely too, the 600m very short walk past local homes, welcoming 'Kia Orana' from the ever so friendly locals, cows, pigs and friendly dogs made our mornings!! Snorkelling across the main road onto beautiful beaches, not far cafes, restaurants, Wigmore Waterfall and supermarket within walking distance, wonderful bus on main road accessible will pick you up and drop off anywhere on the main road cost NZD $5 one way $35 10x ride ticket. We did the Aiututaki Day Tour, dined Nautilus, OTB On the Beach, Spaghetti, Antipodes, Moana Sands/Rarotongan/Edgewater Resort Restaurants, Lil G's cafe and The Hula Bar, local traditional island food (Ruko/Palusami, Taro, Bananas Ike Mata, chicken, can be sourced from Wigmores Supermarket if you miss out on the Progressive Dinner tours or Island Dance nights, make sure you book in advance. We walked over half the island from Beachcomber Gallery to Charlies within two days, stopping to snorkel. Our Hosts Gigi, Jeff, and family are wonderful and leave you to your own devices, they are Island Knowledgeable, we commend them for our lazy, amazing first-time Rarotonga holiday, which we will never forget, 😀 we intend to return to JJ's, we absolutely loved everything about our Awesome, Tranquil Accommodation, so good for your soul!!...Well done Jeff, Gigi & Family, their son whom we witnessed one rainy morning diligently cutting the hedge. New ZealandIt was hard to get the right temperature on the shower. And I couldn't get any hot water for a couple of times. But the staff were so helpful and replaced the gas unit to fix the problem. (Many thanks to Junior and Sarah :)) It's a bit of walk from the main street. Need a car if you're gonna come home late at night. (It's a bit unsafe with scooter as the road is full of pot holes)
The house was nice and clean. Staff were wonderful. It's so peaceful and quiet at night because of its location.

AustraliaMany roosters through the night-but thats everywhere in Rarotonga!
The hosts were very friendly and accomodating to anything I needed. The gardens were tranquil and beautiful with a lovely outlook from the deck. Property is off the main road. A short walk or ride to some great snorkelling or the catch the bus. The use of the bike was very handy to get around and find my bearings.

FranceFar from the main road, so very difficult to get a phone or internet signal. Alternative is the place's wifi but you need to pay for it by purchasing credits at the local supermarket: complicated procedure at a time of most places provide free, good quality connection. The path from the parking to the bungalows is made of volcanic stones laid in concrete: uneven, you have to watch your steps, and you have to carry up your luggage instead of just rolling it. Not sure why such a complicated and unpractical design was chosen.
Quiet secluded location, clean, comfortable, good bathroom, good bed. 2 friendly dogs are guarding the place.

United KingdomThere were only 2 channels on the TV and the signal was not very good. We got a 'tourist SIM card' from Vodafone with data but we could not use it at JJ's as there was no phone signal in our villa. A short walk down the road there was signal. There is no free WIFI provided but it can be purchased using vouchers from Wigmore's supermarket.
We loved our stay at JJ'sRetreat! Jason & Jaime are wonderful hosts. They were so friendly and easy going and shared a lot of knowledge about the island. They have a wonderful slice of paradise in Rarotonga at JJ's Retreat. The self-contained villa had everything we needed for our 10 day stay. It was very clean and tidy, the kitchen was well equipped with cooking equipment and basic cooking ingredients such as oil, salt and pepper, and a great BBQ so we could cook our own meals. Tea/coffee/milk for the first day was provided, as was basic toiletries, but we brought most of what we needed with us from NZ or bought from the local supermarket/take away, Wigmore's, which is a short easy 10 min cycle down the road. Water in the villa is filtered for drinking. The gardens around the property are beautiful and well kept, along with the swimming pool which we enjoyed everyday! We were so lucky to be the only couple there so we had the whole place to ourselves. The property is set back from the main ring road (5 min walk) so it is very quiet and peaceful. The Raro bus will pick you up/drop you off at the main road and so it is very easy to get around without a car. JJ's is located close by to the best snorkelling on the island - Fruits of Raro to the east and Aroa to the west. The bikes provided allowed us to cycle to Aroa beach to enjoy snorkelling at our own pace. We also cycled to Wigmore's Waterfall for a swim and picnic. After adventuring every day it was wonderful to come back to our villa and enjoy our evening on the deck. The use of the washing machine was great too, and there was a phone to call local numbers to make reservations. The bed was so comfortable and the villa was kept cool by its design and the wonderful big fan above our bed! They were happy to arrange a late check out for our late flight. Jason & Jaime have thought of all the little details that make a holiday extra special.

The property is so beautiful! Comfy, quiet, spacious, clean and scenic. Easy walk to the beach and down the road from The Rarotongan. This is a must-stay if you're looking for something more than just a hotel room. The pool is fantastic on those super hot afternoons too! Hosts are so wonderful, kind and helpful. You may want to get a car or scooter to get around quicker but the bikes are great to cruise around on and you can flag down the bus at the end of the road Thanks Jaime and Jason again for everything!

New ZealandIf you're staying more than a couple of days, get hold of some extra loo roll as only two are provided - although I'm sure the hosts will supply more if you ask 😉
Beautifully private and tranquil. Exceptionally well kept and secluded grounds with a nice little pool. The property is a bit of a walk from the nearest shop and restaurant (about 20 minutes) but the store (Wigmores) is pretty well stocked and the restaurant (Vaima) is excellent. The cooking facilities at JJ's are more than adequate for self-catering. All in all, a great place to unwind and relax. Thoroughly recommended.
