How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewFantastic location, clean and tidy with everything you need for your stay. Within walking distance of the lagoon, night markets and several restaurants, also a juice bar for a great coffee.
There were a few ants on the kitchen bench which we couldn't get rid of, but we had no food out

Verified review6 adults and two children under 5, and we loved our Mikara House at Muri Beach Haven. It was spacious, clean, warm, and inviting with lovely furnishings, a well stocked kitchen, two bathrooms and toilets, lots of seating, 4 bedrooms, a nice outside porch area, and lovely gardens. Air conditioning and lots of fans to keep you cool. Just a 1 minute walk to the beautiful lagoon perfect for children to swim and kayak safely. The location was perfect, close to fun activities, and the Muri Market. There are so many positives for this property.

Verified reviewLoved how easy it was book, the location, the communication for our lovely host. How easy and welcome we felt. The villa had everything we needed and more, the facilities available were perfect. Had everything we needed if you came with the clothes on your back and togs, you would still have the bestest time here. Loved that we were picked up and delivered to our villa, air con was on, got shown how to use everything. Starlink wifi, for an additional cost but super perfect. Access to kayaks and snorkling gears, had washing machine so was able to clean clothes as needed. Air con was perfect for sleeping comfortably at night. Loved that if we needed to go anywhere, we could organise a taxi ride straight away. But could also catch the local bus. Just a walk either by road or along the lagoon shore gets you to the TEM store or Muri night Market. You can here the drums of Te Vara Nui at night aswell and you can tell what time it is by the drums of the Koka or Capt Tama cruises. The service from Shirley the manager, Matai the driver, Martha in housekeeping, and moko boy doing the gardens(so lush and blooming flowers) everything is perfect. Each villa even tho they are your own private spaces, we were able to interact with other guests staying in other villas and just such a welcome relaxing vibe. Also loved the daily visits from the dogs

Bring mozzie repellent if it’s not windy. One bedroom had a musty smell.

Verified reviewThe outdoor seating/ deck area, air con, mesh screens and louvres, great shower, fresh fruit, water and milk all ready for us, little extras like umbrellas, flippers, masks, snorkel and beach shoes all available and several kayaks for guest use; proximity to beach was great, lovely garden and helpful friendly people.

We read the reviews before booking but unfortunately the great reviews are basically of the bigger accomodation and we stayed in House Nuku which is a studio. Really small, we stayed a week so had 2 large cases which we had nowhere to store so we had to put them out in the laundry room which was shared with House Grace next door. The back looked out over a stream but unfortunately it was a haven for mosquitos and we were bitten numerous times. The furniture was old, and there honestly wasn't room to swing a cat. The booster switch for hot water is situated in House Grace next door so if there's no hot water, the neighbours need to switch it on ! I feel like House Nuku is the dumping ground for all the stuff they don't want to throw out. We also had to pay for the accomodation into the owners bank account via bank transfer which is very unusual in my experience.

Verified reviewShirley & matai make you feel like you are at home , from picking us up from the airport to the fresh fruit left for us in our villa. Grace villa was very clean & tidy. Muri beach lagoon is a 2 minute walk, you can also use the kayaks and snorkel gear. The bakery, conveinance store, and car hire are all in walking distance ,the property is in such a good location , a must for all the family

No oven or microwave. Internet was very weak.
