Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandThe swarms of large wasps. Rooms were not so sunny in the afternoon. Whole place is a little bit dated but quite comfortable.
Aunty's June was lovely. She told us of many Rarotonga adventures and was delightful company.

New Zealand❌ Needs some maintenance - toilet seat wobbly, sliding door stiff and hard to open and close fully, insect screen door had no lock or handles. ❌ Incorrect name on door at arrival. ❌ Lots of barking dogs and crowing roosters, welcome to the Cook Islands. 😅 ❌ Early morning fitness classes in Enua Manea Hall across road - loud music. ❌ No wifi. ❌ No complimentary drinking water. ❌ No aircon, however ceiling fans and open windows provided sufficient airflow. ❌ Rooms serviced after 3rd night of stay, I didn't mind this.
✅ Private and basic - this is not a hotel or resort. ✅ Self-catered with kitchen. ✅ Large porch for relaxing. ✅ Beautiful mountain and garden views. ✅ Great online communication from host, although I never met or saw her during my stay. ✅ Airport pickup $25 (I arrived late at night, driver stopped at store for us to get food on the way and dropped me right outside the door of unit). ✅ Private bathroom. ✅ Beach access across road. ✅ Friendly resident cat 😺. ✅ Insect screens over all windows and door. ✅ Complimentary milk, tea/coffee. ✅ Short walk to Woo Akapuao - convenience store for snacks, beverages, or basic supplies. ✅ Short walk to Charlie's Bar & Restaurant. ✅ 30min walk along road to Muri Night Market.

New ZealandThe wifi wasn't working but they got people to come and fix it towards the end of our stay. It didn't bother us as we had a data roaming pack.
Text messages from the host keeping me well informed. We were running late but they had my name on the beach house door and I was given instructions with the code to get the key from a lock box.

Great location close to the beach and a small shop and very close to Charlie's bar! Stayed at the separate house rather than the apartments. Large, comfortable bed, spacious room, nice outside deck area. Hosts are very welcoming

New ZealandThere is really nothing to say here. This is a very well priced accomodation with a prime location and the most beautiful view one could ask for. No TV... but our previous accomodation had one and there are only 2 channels (or really one and a bit since the second is so patchy) and the lack of TV meant we had a much better time here than at the previous place!
We arrived approx 15 min early as not sure exactly where we were going. We went to Raina Apartments as assumed there would be an office and couldn't reach the accomodation via phone. No office, no one about so we popped into the dairy just up the road (Woo something- lovely folk in there) who advised us our villa was right next door- very handy! Workers were on site doing some last minute cleaning and gardening and also some building repairs. They were very accommodating and happy for us to stow our perishable groceries and stay while they finished up (Thank you Nida and Mr Gardener/Caretaker- so sweet). All basics were supplied with extra towels for the beach and a visitor information folder- worth a read - wish I'd had time to take a dancing lesson! Folder also includes house rules, instructions for lighting oven, contact numbers for accomodation and emergency phone numbers etc. House is well kept and right on the beach- glorious! Most windows covered with insect screens and the fans moved the air around well, keeping us comfortable throughout. Didn't miss the TV at all 😀

New ZealandDidn’t like the fact that we were told we had to use the same towels u til we left. We had booked in for 5 nights. Also had no hot water and was told the next day that the hot water got turned off for the night. That’s just a couple things. There were other points but I don’t want to go on about it.

New ZealandThe rooms are only serviced once every 3 days, so you only get one towel per guest for the 3 days, so you will need to take your own towels. There are rope lines out the front but no pegs, so bring your own or throw clothes over the lines. The guest book says you get beach towels as well, but we did not get any. We could not use the kayaks as the paddles had been broken, and I asked for paddles which we got on the last day I asked the owner whom lives in the top apartment for a broom to sweep my room and she told me where to find it in the complex laundry room but make sure I put it back. I asked the manager if we could access the laundry facilities, and she advised us to ask the cleaner and pay $5 per load. My daughter asked the owner when she was ready to do a wash and could not find the cleaner so asked the owner who was in the garden to be told it was $20 a load because of the cost of power and so on. When we checked the guest book in the rooms, it said $10 a wash. So I gave feedback to the manager re this, and she received the feedback well on just improving the communication and collateral. The bathrooms are very old and need updating. One of our rooms had the fittings for a shower door but no door. Some of the insect screens were broken and had holes or gaps, and the sliding door in our room had to be lifted to open and close as it did not slide. The water pressure is non-existent and dribbles out of the shower head even on just cold water. There is no office, so if you need help, you have to find the owner or hope the cleaning lady is working that day. I mostly communicated through email to the manager.
The location was fantastic, across the road from a beautiful beach where we swam everyday. If you walk down a bit it was lovely and sandy and you could swim bare feet. The UV water filling Station was right across the road so easy access to treated water. The hall across the road did fitness workouts everyday for a small charge The venue is walking distance to Charlie's restaurant, and a local dairy and cafe. There is lots to do on this side of the island close to Muri Market and the cruise operators. The rooms are very spacious and the fans do a great job of keeping the rooms cool, so we were really comfortable in the spaces. [Noted as there was no air con but it was ok] There is plenty of parking, and our flight was delayed but the cleaner was there to open our rooms for us even though it was late. The Manager was very responsive and lovely to deal with over the phone. We enjoyed our stay due to the great location, however an update of the bathrooms and servicing of the rooms daily would need to happen for us to stay again.
