How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewClean toilet and kitchen Close to airport Warm water and good pressure
Very unstable wifi I knew my twin room has no toilet and shared shower before booking but still chose to stay because of high rate and I couldn't find other hotels that fits my expectations. My booking was last minute. Now I know that I prefer a room with toilet and shower together because walking to toilet in the middle of the night was not my cup of tea. Shower cubicle didn't have any shelf to put shampoo and all and hooks at the door was not enough to hang clothes and towel. No rubbish bin in room Take your map with you on the first day out to town centre and back to hostel just in case you get lost. Lack of signage on the street. We went out when we had day light and came back late after dark. Benjamin explained well about how to come back from town using map but I didn't have a map with me and it was so confusing when it was dark. I talked to another hostel guest that he also got lost on the first day. I read reviews that Benjamin organises cheaper tour than outside but he said staffs were all on holidays. Check with hostel before you go if you expected that.

Verified reviewBeautiful quiet hostel with a great vibe, spacious living space and a large kitchen. Well run hostel and the owner gives good discounted prices on most tours and activities. Had a great stay here and met some cool people.
Pretty expensive for a hostel but this is expected on the island I guess.

Verified reviewComplimentary transport from and to the airport. The shared kitchen has everything you need. Super clean. The staff is exceptionally friendly and supportive when organising trips and other activities. High value for money. Plenty of options for accommodation type and budget (we chose a private room with a private bathroom).
Just a suggestion - not requested or expected: The walk to the main centre is just 10 minutes, but it would be nice to have a lift if possible, especially when the sun is high or when it gets dark at night.

Verified reviewTranquility and cleanness, free access (for all guests) to the very spacious and well equipped kitchen, and last but not least, owner and host Beni who will help you with any problem or doubt you may have. He provides free transportation from and to the airport, and will give you information about tours, shops, places worth visiting, etc. He truly cares about all his guests so they feel comfortable and safe during their stay at his place (ie.home).

Verified reviewThe host family is wonderful — they’re friendly, welcoming, and always ready to help whenever they can. They call the hostel "Home" from the start, and it truly feels that way. There’s a beautiful lawn right in front of my room, adding to the cozy atmosphere, and the shared kitchen with two stoves makes cooking easy and convenient. It’s a warm, comfortable place that really lives up to its name.
The WiFi was very slow or almost nonexistent during my stay, which made it difficult to stay connected. It’s about a 10-20 minute walk to the beaches — not a huge issue since the town is small and easy to explore on foot. The roosters were quite noisy in the mornings, but that seems to be common across Rapa Nui, so it’s more of a local charm than a fault of the stay itself.

Verified reviewVery near the airport but not too near the town though walkable, Rapa Nui is not big. Big kitchen with many stoves, and you will be given a utensils box. Many toilets as well. The tour package offered is cheaper and operated by the owner Benjamin.
The utensils are plastic plate and cup which may not be suitable for hot water.

Verified reviewVery warm welcoming and friendly staff!! It’s clean and big common space for use.
We booked a double room, but it was combined with 2single beds,so it’s a bit uncomfortable while sleep, and the hot shower was a bit hard to adjust ,either too hot or too cold!

Verified reviewThe hostel owner was super nice and friendly. He also provided small group tours which were cheaper than what you can find online. Beautiful facility with tons of nature. Great location, walking distance to the airport and downtown.
Roosters start making noise from dawn everyday, but that's everywhere in this island. Lol

Verified reviewI loved my stay here the whole site was stunning, with a beautiful green space, lovely plants etc. There is a small bar, a great kitchen, and plenty of bathrooms. It’s a small walk to the town, but no more than 10 minutes. The owners really do treat you like family, one night they even gave me home-cooked fresh banana bread. The airport pick-up and drop off is really handy too.
The hostel was booked out by a large Chilean group, which was great for the first four nights because I got upgraded from a dorm room into a twin room on my own. On the final night a man was moved into my room, as a young single female on my own it didn’t feel very safe to be on my own with a strange man in a twin room and therefore I struggled to relax/sleep (another woman wouldn’t have been an issue). It didn’t ruin my stay at all, I loved it. Just some feedback for the owners if a situation like this comes up again :)

Verified reviewHostal Tipanie was the perfect stay for us on Easter Island. Benjamin the owner picked us up from the airport and transferred us back. His full day tour was a great way to see all the main points of the island. The hostal was clean and felt like we were at home with a family atmosphere. Benjamin provided us a fresh fish BBQ on the night we arrived which was an added bonus. 10/10 recommend this place for anyone looking for comfortable friendly atmosphere on the island. Thank you Benjamin from Canada !!

Verified reviewBenjamin is very friendly and organized good tours and activities for tourists.
In general, we are happy while staying here and signed up all activities offered by Benjamin, including 1-day tour, cave exploring, sunrise, scuba diving, horse riding and Kari Kari show. It would be nice if the kitchen can provide salt or cooking oil for guests.
