How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe staff was amazing, the room was very nice, clean, spacious, the bathroom is very nice and well equipped. The hotel is very beautiful and the breakfast was very good and we had some free coffee, milk and cocoa, tea and citrus water.
The location is not the best, people always say to be careful there , especially after dark.
Thank you, Carina, for your excellent review and for highlighting so many positive aspects of your stay: the attention of our team, the comfort of the room, and the breakfast. We're so glad you enjoyed it. Regarding the location, we're in the heart of Barrio Yungay, a heritage-rich and very authentic area of Santiago. As in any big city, it's always advisable to take basic precautions when traveling at night, but during the day, it offers an environment full of history, cafes, and museums to discover. We'll be happy to welcome you back on your next visit to Santiago.

Verified reviewI would like to have a microwave in our room
Thank you, Andrea, for your comment and for highlighting the attentiveness of our staff. Regarding your suggestion, we do not have microwaves in the rooms or common areas, as our building is a historic preservation site. However, you can always request at the front desk that we heat your food in the microwave in the hotel kitchen, and we'll be happy to do so. We look forward to welcoming you back on your next visit to Santiago.

Verified reviewLocation - Situated just a 10-minute walk from downtown Santiago, Hotel Casa Aure provides easy access to major attractions like Plaza de Armas, Santa Lucia Hill, and the Museum of Pre-Columbian Art. The Cumming Metro Station is nearby, facilitating convenient travel around the city. Rooms - Rooms are described as clean, cozy, and well-maintained, with some offering balconies and small living areas. While the decor may vary, the overall ambiance is warm and inviting. Guests have noted that the rooms are generally quiet and conducive to a restful stay. Breakfast - The hotel's breakfast is a highlight for many visitors, offering a variety of options including scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, cereals, and meats. Complimentary beverages like coffee, tea, and hot chocolate are available throughout the day, adding to the overall value. Staff - For me, they were the crown jewel of this property. Everyone when above and beyond to help. Its was amazing

Verified reviewThe location is convenient to the plaza and quiet at night. There is a supermarket nearby if you need to buy something. The staff (Christobal) is extremely kind and helpful no matter what I need he would provide immediate assistance. His assistance is the highlight of my trip to Sandiago.
Solo room is relatively small but manageable.

Far from metro and shops. Felt not really welcome.
Thank you, Eivor, for sharing your experience at Casa Aure. Our building is part of Santiago's historical heritage, and we're glad you appreciated that. Regarding the location, we're not next to shopping centers, but we are close to the Cumming or Quinta Normal metro stations in a traditional neighborhood with cafes, restaurants, and cultural attractions just a few minutes' walk away. Regarding the welcome, we're sorry that wasn't the impression you received, as our staff always strives to provide warm and friendly service. We'll take your comment into account to continue improving.

Verified reviewWe had a warm welcome at Casa Aure, the staff was super friendly and the service felt genuinely personal. The breakfast was tasty, with fresh options to start the day. The shower was excellent: clean, hot and with good water pressure. The Wi-Fi was fast, which made streaming easy and the portable heater in the room was very appreciated. The hotel is located in a nice area with great restaurants nearby and the building itself is charming and full of character.
Unfortunately, the building’s charm also comes with a major downside: it’s extremely noisy. The traffic noise is constant and we could barely hear a YouTube video when a car or truck passed. It felt like we were sleeping on the road, I’m not exaggerating. In our room (301), the balcony door wouldn’t fully close (see photo) which made the problem worse. We mentioned it to the staff, and they tried placing something on the floor, but it didn’t help at all. It’s a shame, because otherwise the hotel has a lot going for it but light sleepers should be warned.
Thank you for your feedback, Arthur. We’re glad to know you appreciated the personalized service from our team, the breakfast, the comfort of the shower, and the charm of our house. We also value your mention of the location and the style of the building. Regarding the noise you experienced, we fully understand your concern. Being located in the heart of Santiago in a historic building means that soundproofing is not always at the level of a modern construction. In your specific case, we will review the balcony door in room 301 with our maintenance team to ensure it is properly sealed and does not cause this issue again. Thank you for your observations, as they help us improve and anticipate these situations for future guests.

Verified reviewIt was clean. My room and bed did not match the picture but it was clean and nice and staff were very helpful.
The location is scary and creepy and the door to the hotel opens by an intercom only, which makes you feel even more unsafe.
Thank you for sharing your experience, Iman. We are glad to hear that you appreciated the cleanliness of the room and the friendliness of our team, who are always available to help and provide good service. We understand that the location was not to your liking. Casa Aure is located in Barrio Yungay, one of the oldest heritage areas of Santiago, with a great architectural and cultural richness. Although it is not a traditional tourist area, many of our guests value its authenticity, tranquility and proximity to museums, squares and neighborhood restaurants. Regarding the intercom access, this is a security measure designed to take care of both our guests and our team, and is a common practice in many urban hotels. Thank you again for your comment and for highlighting the positive aspects of your stay.

Very bad ,not walkable location, balcony is not usefull. no private entrance. we left hotel as soon as I booked new acomodation. so we tehnicaly waisted money to booked this hotel.
Thank you for your comment, Oleg. We are sorry to hear that our location and the characteristics of Casa Aure did not meet your expectations. It is important to mention that we are located in Barrio Yungay, a heritage and traditional area of Santiago, highly valued by those looking for a more authentic experience and different from the usual tourist circuit. Regarding the balcony, we understand your observation: some of our balconies are small and are part of the historical architecture of the building, so they are not always suitable for a large use or with outdoor furniture. Anyway, we appreciate your feedback as it always helps us to know the perceptions of those who visit us.
