Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaI wanted to stay longer!
We loved everything about this beautiful property. The warm welcome, the delightful grounds, the delicious breakfast and the very convenient location but the rooms were the best. Spacious, beautifully decorated and super comfortable. The beds were the best I’ve had in 7 weeks travelling!

IrelandWe loved everything!
Everything was perfect but the staff were all delightful! They could not have been more helpful! When we checked out at 7.00 am yesterday before breakfast, with a two hour drive to Santiago ahead of us, a special breakfast tray had been delivered to our room, laden with fruit, yogurt, tea and sandwiches to send us off with a full stomach! So thoughtful! We enjoyed the hot tub and a relaxing massage during our visit too.

Room was immaculately clean in a relaxing outdoor setting with a lovely pool. Really loved the relaxation area. Our room was semi detached and very quiet. The breakfast was fantastic. Excellent mattress.

United KingdomMy room was by the reception & breakfast which could be a little noisy at times.
Lovely room & pool, delicious breakfast, friendly staff, on a safe quiet street and easy to walk to town (and to uber or drive to winerys). Also near the bus stop, 3hrs to Santiago.

United StatesRooms a bit tight on space
Attractive grounds, comfortable room/bed/pillows. Enjoyed sitting outside on our wee patio. Hospitality of woman at reception (working through translation issues and beyond: dining suggestions, ice, wine) and upon leaving (suggesting wineries, lunch, further lodgings). Breakfast was ample and in nice room

CanadaOnly small quibbles. The bathroom was a bit cramped and the air conditioner in our room could have been a bit more powerful.
We particularly enjoyed the pool and garden. We cycled to wineries and restaurants during the day, and cooled off and relaxed in the garden when we got back. Casa Calfu provides excellent service and value.

United KingdomThe room was a bit tired, there were cracked tiles in the bathroom and the hot water didn't remain consistently warm in any of our showers. I can see other guests struggled with this too. For the price I feel the room could have been refreshed and updated. The location is in a residential area of Santa Cruz so there isn't a huge amount nearby. The main focus of the region is the vineyards and I think we'd stay in one of them if we visited again.
Room was a good size, front desk very helpful in booking wine tours and arranging a taxi for us. Breakfast was simple but tasty and plentiful. Pool area was really nice. Nearby nice restaurants in the boulevard. AC worked well.

United KingdomOnly one minor issue, not the fault of the b&b: GPS led us to the beginning of the road and the house was at the other end of a very long road, the numbers of houses were not in sequence. This was over one mile further than GPS indicated.
The lady owner was on premises , the place was immaculate, the pool and the surroundings of it appealing. The lady owner suggested venues to visit.

United StatesThe only thing that is a bit wonky is the hot water. They use the tankless hot water system and it took a little figuring out. I did figure it out and had all the hot water I wanted. But it is a tad touchy.
I went to Santa Cruz so I could visit wineries in the area. Casa Calfu offered a driver to me for a fee and that made the overall winery tour experience very pleasant. I also needed to have laundry done while I was there and they handled the laundry in the same day. The WiFi was really good and I found the room very comfortable. It was hot one of the days that I was there and I swam in the pool which was pristine--very nice. There are two hot tubs and some of my neighbors seemed to enjoy those but I didn't try them. The breakfast was good albeit basic--cold cuts, cereals, toast, pastries and scrambled eggs. The location was pretty good as it was in town and, while most of the wineries i wanted to see where outside of Santa Cruz, it was a short ride to the wineries. I also drove to Pichilemu one day which was only 1.5 hrs from Santa Cruz. I had rented a car from Santiago and drove to Santa Cruz so I just drove myself to the ocean.
