How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe breakfast was typical of this style of hotel and fully up to expectations.
The hotel location was extremely inconvenient, with the street itself (and others approaching it) fully gridlocked for large periods of time. And the parking arrangements were not transparent on the Booking.Com website posting. Had these been provided (correctly) I would have made a different choice. And also. the room, while comfortable, lacked some simple basic amenities. For instance, there was no closet nor any other clothes hanging facilities provided.

Verified reviewAmazing boutique place, just off the centre of La Serena. A modest front door opens up into a beautiful pathway of rooms and courtyards. Tranquil peace and quiet throughout. Our room was well decorated and the bed was really comfortable. Next morning, the breakfast buffet was so healthy and ten times better than most hotels we have stayed at in Chile. The whole thing was just perfect.
We were just passing through and had only booked one night. If we’d had enough time, we would have stayed longer in La Serena just for this hotel !

We booked a room with a garden view and a terrace and ended up with a tiny room without a window and with a construction site in front of our door. We complained to management but there was no better room available. Very disappointing, they didn’t even offer us a discount.

Verified reviewThe facilities were absolutely lovely. We were on the ‘colonial’ side of the street, and both the room and the courtyard/garden spaces were beautifully decorated and comfortable, with all the necessary hotel amenities. Breakfast was varied and plentiful, served in a pleasant room.
The need to get a staff person to unlock the street-level doors each time was inconvenient.

Ran out of hot water and cold water in the morning. Only had about a 2-minute shower and it ran out of hot water followed by 2-minute shower and then both hot and cold red out of water. Don't know if this was a common occurrence or just a one-time deal. Other than that everything was great. I'd say about 5,000.00 pretty much yeah

Verified reviewAs described a beautiful oasis garden and lots of chill out areas beautifully furnished with local items and great attention to detail. Bread rolls at breakfast were lovely.
Attention to detail only goes as far as the decor. Not as advertised. Bar not open because the area is blocked off as room doubles up as breakfast area and is set up day before. No bottles of water or glasses in room. - it was 30 degrees and no aircon. No access to coffee and tea making. One stick of Nescafe at breakfast. Absolutely no frills or extras.

We also regret not having air conditioning since in La Serena the thermometer does not reach 22 degrees, however, we will try to have something suitable for next summer to be able to cool off in the room. We also inform you that we do not have a restaurant and so on because we are in the center, therefore competing with the bars and so on is complicated since outside the Hotel there are 3 restaurants that offer what you need, we will try as much as possible to improve, thank you very much.

Verified reviewThe hotel is very unique with its interior decor and its location is amazing as it’s in the centre of La Serena. Our room was perfect space for a couple and a very nice bathroom. They also had a gorgeous outdoor space which felt completely isolated from the city which was serene. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast provided gave a large range and was very tasty.
It’s not a negative it’s more of a heads up that on Google it says the hotel has its own parking but, it does not. We parked our car in the restaurant across the street which was not expensive for the nights we stayed.

Verified reviewA lovely large room with a beautiful view, although I'm aware that this depends on what side of the hotel you stay on. 50% are facing the mountains, 50% facing the casino and other structures. The breakfast was also amazing, really good and massive amounts of options, possibly the best I've ever seen!

Verified reviewReal oasis in the city. The yard is well maintained, providing great places to chill in fresh air. The bed is comfortable with a view of the green yard. Staff at front desk are super friendly, they gave me useful information and a map about the attractions in the area. Even saw a kitty. Wish I could stay longer.
The hot water was little bit hard to manage. There were birds squawking in the night.
