Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ChileDespite an old world charm, it does look old in places. The heathy traffic in the sector means you wake up early.

AustraliaWifi was a bit on and off but I’d read about that and got by no problem. We arrived after 11pm first night and the shower was only just tepid. Next night my husband had a shower late and it was the same. He came to bed frozen. I had a hot shower both mornings and the second night. It was as if they turned off the water heating after 9pm?
Location fantastic, Centre-Val to Barrio Larrita, good restaurants close, opposite Santa Lucia Hill. 10-15 minutes walk to Plaza. bed super comfy and sheets and pillows great. Breakfast was nice. Same np other days but we’re not picky. Scrambled eggs, ham, cheese, toast with jams. When the shower was hot it was great too! It’s an old building and not fancy but perfect for what we needed and priced really well! Hotel arranged an airport pick up by taxi who was really lovely and informative on our trip from the airport. Owner was helpful. Staff in the dining room were very friendly.

Hong KongThe mattress is a bit old. I wished the hotel could have accommodated my request for an early breakfast as I needed to be at the airport early. I wasn’t expecting a full breakfast but some toast with butter and jam or even tea would have been fine. My request was denied.
The hotel was in a very good location: across from a beautiful park, around the corner from restaurants and shops, and 4-5 blocks from museums and other attractions. I enjoyed the breakfast located on the top floor with the nice views.

Location. Walkable distance to a lot of places and restaurants. The restaurant on the 7th floor has good food for a good price. The gentleman that plays the piano is good.

United KingdomNothing wrong - based on the price. If you want more luxury then you have to pay more elsewhere.
I give 9 for value for money. The room could be smarter and the bathroom needs refurbishing but everything worked and was clean and comfortable. The area with the beds in was small but there was a separate seating area with sofa and tv and a large wardrobe so actually plenty of space. Breakfast was also fine. A set meal so don't expect an endless buffet. We were given coffee, orange juice, toast, jam, some ham and cheese and scrambled eggs. Same every day but considering how cheap the room was, we're not complaining. Great location, an easy walk from the historic centre with plenty of bars and restaurants around. Overall this was great value for money. We would stay here again.

NetherlandsForesta is a charming, old fashioned hotel, which is in dire need of renovation (wall paper peeling off, bathrooms with cracks).
The location, close to an area with with several restaurants (try Liguria), the Santa Lucia hill and the Plaza de armas. Rooms are pleasant with semi antique furniture

ChileSometimes the wifi signal was not strong enough. This is something to check.
The hotel is placed at a few blocks from a subway station. Rooms are very comfortable. The staff is very helpful and friendly. In addition, it is extremely pleasant to have a good time in the hotel restaurant at the 7th floor or in the hotel bar in the 1st floor.

BrazilInternet wifi almost never worked though the one week I stayed there. There is noise from the live music at the bar, which might disrupt some people's sleep but it personally didn't affect me that much.
Breakfast was good, very clean rooms, staff was nice. Be mindful that the breakfast is a 'set menu', it's not a self-service buffet thing. The hotel has 6 floors with rooms but there's an elevator. And the restaurant/breakfast area is in the last floor (7th). Staff makes a lot of effort to communicate and help.
