United StatesThere was no main thing just a few annoying things that we wished we had known before. You can only use the kitchen noon to 7pm which made cooking difficult. The fridge, freezer, and cupboards are full of the hostels food so it is difficult to store any of your own food if you plan on cooking. They lock the front gate so you can’t get in or out during the night, we tried to leave for am early morning hike and do not know this. We were locked in until someone woke up and unlocked the gate so we could leave.
The staff were nice and always ready to chat, joke, and give good local recommendations.

United KingdomMy room had no external window but instead a window into the laundry room. I got a lot of food smells coming into the room from the nearby communal kitchen.
Friendly host made me comfortable at breakfast and was v helpful in arranging my day tour to Osorno and Petrohue. Comfortable private room and clean shared bathroom. Based in a quiet neighborhood, 30 minutes walk into town.

NetherlandsBasic but comfortable stay. Friendly and helpful owners and one of the more affordable stays in Puerto Varas. Not very central but you can still walk to the centre. Was able to use the kitchen and the breakfast was left out extra time, very nice.

Netherlands- They charged tourist tax while not needed and we asked specifically for it. - The advertisement states a private bathroom, this is not true: there are only two shared bathrooms for the entire hostal. - Shared kitchen is not well equipped. In general: definitely not worth the money. Rather pay 10 bucks more to get a cabana or apartment.
The bed was really good, we slept good although it is a bit noisy.

CanadaVery loud due to the thin walls and children playing even after 23:00 ( their quiet time) we heard loud voices. Our window went into the laundry room where there was banging on the window. I went to the bathroom at one point and one of the kids turned the light off and proceeded to try and enter and bang on the door after I said hello. I guess it is cheap for a reason. No towels provided either.
Very Friendly people. Nice breakfast. Ample Street parking.

NetherlandsWe booked a 4 persons room with 3 beds but got a double room with a double bed. It was impossible to get the room we paid for, the only thing we could do was to accept the wrong room. No towels in the room. When paying, they did not have enough change. Were offered an expensive tour where no English was spoken and where a separate entrance had to be paid everywhere. Even though they knew we didn't speak Spanish.
Breakfast was ok. Owner tried to help us with getting a sim card but with no success.

United StatesI do not understand where all of these positive reviews are coming from. I’m well traveled and have stayed in dozens of hostels over the years, but when the property is advertised as being something so much better than what it is was, that’s where I take issue. First, the property would not respond to MULTIPLE emails and phone calls before we arrived to confirm our booking (specifically their request). We also wanted to ask about parking and no response whatsoever. We arrived on a Saturday night and were told that there’s no breakfast on Sunday because the host “he likes to sleep in.” Unfortunate since a “wonderful breakfast” was included in our room price. On Monday there was no breakfast either. Tuesday he did seem to be making breakfast, which looked to be just cereal. The main issue we had was that the bathroom was gross. No one bothered to put out hand soap the whole time we were there, and puddles of spit and toothpaste on the basin were never cleaned in the three days we were there. I understand that shared bathrooms are used by many people and so naturally they are going to get dirty, but when the same dried spit is on the same part of the basin for several days, it’s really gross. The bathroom also ran out of toilet paper and we couldn’t find anyone for two hours to replace it. No room cleaning and if there’s housekeeping it’s impossible to notice, unlike what’s advertised on Booking.com. Finally someone did seem to come and clean, and I only know this because someone started vacuuming outside our room at 9:30 PM. However, bathroom basin was still dirty the next morning. In the kitchen, piles of dirty dishes were left in the sink for long periods of time, and dirty pots are often left out for awhile which makes cooking your own meals really unpleasant.
WiFi was fast and street parking was easy.

CanadaThe rooms are not soundproof at all and the one we stayed in was small. No towels provided. During the night the toilet paper ran out and there was not an extra roll in the bathroom. It was quickly replaced in the a.m. but with several people sharing it would be nice if an extra roll could be left in the cupboard.
The breakfast was good and the staff pleasant.
