Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. It was very cold in the rooms at night time, however there were thick blankets in the duvet in the bed. The website says that only USD are accepted but then on check-out day, the lady said only Chilean Pesos. She did accept my USD which was very helpful but maybe the website should be updated.
The lady was lovely and very accommodating. I liked the private room with a bathroom, and the hammock was a nice touch.

We loved our stay at Casa los Duendes, it’s so peaceful and has a lovely view of the volcano and mountains. Kitchen is also good. It’s a bit further out of the main town but we liked this because it meant it was quiet. The owner is very friendly and makes you feel at home.

Room had no AC and the air was not quite fresh, mosquitos came in every night when we opened the window.

We had a nice stay, the room was simple but spacious, looking onto a field. And some volcanoes! We even had a little terrace and there’s a separate kitchen on the property. On the whole, good value for money. Staff nice and friendly.

Comfortable room, useful shelves, good shower. The shared kitchen was spacious and very helpful. About a 10-minute walk from Caracoles street but the flipside was that it was very quiet. Good value for San Pedro, as it seems hotel prices are a bit inflated there these days.

Great location for our family, under 10 min walk with kids to main shopping street etc. but quiet and peaceful. Spacious, clean. Large outside sitting area and kids made good use of the table tennis table. Private despite other guests being present.

There is no heating in the rooms, and warm water was not always available.
The place is cosy and the staff was very kind. It was very clean and they changed our sheets and towels after two days. The terrace is perfect for watching sunrises. The guy who we guess is an owner speaks English, which we found rare in Chile in general.

No heater means very cold nights in colder months, otherwise I would highly recommend in summer / warmer months
I loved the room but super cold overnight and no heater. Nice hot shower and great views. Friendly staff.

The beds were quite squeaky and no lights on the alleyway to the hostel.
The staff were very lovely, helpful, and accommodating. The location was very peaceful and quiet at night. The shared kitchen was good and the rooms were big and comfortable.

The owner was super friendly. He also let us store our luggage for 4 days for our Bolivia road trip. The place had a rustic rural feel to it. The room was good size, there was also a fridge and shared kitchen. The place is 10 min walk from the main street so nice and quite.

It was not a dislike but more a comment for improvement: the kitchen could have a bit more gears like a big knife for cutting veggies/fruits, vegetable peeler, cutting board… for people who cook a bit.
Location: only 5 mins walk from the center in a very quiet area. Impossible to be woken up by anything or bothered by the noise. Staff: Marcelo was nice and always reachable for anything. House: big house with 3 bedrooms and large living room. The bathroom had hot water. A nice view on the mountains too.

It would be nice to have A/C as it gets pretty hot in the room and it’s difficult for sleeping sometimes.
I enjoyed the location of this property. It’s a little off the main road, but close enough to walk to everything. The host, Marcelo, was very kind and helpful.

The shower wasn't always hot.
The owner was really friendly and helpful and allowed us to check in early. It's in a great location, close to the main streets and restaurants but a bit quieter. The room was clean, with access to a kitchen and terrace. Great value for money, thank you!
