How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

We would have preferred secure parking for our motorbikes as opposed to street parking.

I was surprised there was no free shampoo or soap in the rooms. Breakfast started at 7, but many tours expect guest to be picket up at hotel by 6:30.

The facility is very old
The place is very cozy and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is great and the breakfast is a nice bonus.

The walls are very thin, it can get very noisy at night as you can hear all the other guests. I’d recommend to take ear plugs

The staff was amazingly friendly, loved them! Location was perfect! It was the best place we stayed at on our whole trip to Chile.

Nothing comes to mind.
Very friendly owner, took care of bags that were not taken on the trek, one day laundry service for less than 4 USD/kg. You get a key to the front door as well, which means you can come and go at any time. I stayed here 3x 2 days and used this hostal as my base. The 3 beds were great to sort out my gear and decide what was goin/staying on the next adventure. Good advice on where to eat and buy missing gear equipment.

I think most places in Chile don’t have brewed coffee but that would be great.
This was our third stay at Hostal El Rincon. It is the perfect place to use as a base! The owners are super nice and held our bags. I liked the breakfast and there was always fruit. I would highly recommend!

Lower floor rooms you can hear people walking upstairs- not a big deal though.
The owners are extremely helpful and kind. They held our luggage while we were backpacking. It’s easy to get to downtown and lots of great restaurants. There is a small refrigerator you can put some items in. I also enjoyed their breakfast.

No kitchen - but they do let you use the toasters and microwaves and more than happy to bring you glasses or bottle openers
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful- even told us when they noticed our rental car had a flat tyre out front!

The location is perfect--right on the edge of the main tourist streets, yet blissfully quiet. I heard no street noise, no music, no other guests making a racket...and not a single barking dog! There was plenty of hot water for a nice relaxing soak in the 3/4 tub; the proprietors were friendly; and the decor was cheerful and relaxing. It proved an ideal oasis after finishing the Torres del Paine circuit; plus the price is a steal for the amenities and location!

Great location, really central but down a quiet alleyway. All the staff who work there are absolutely lovely. Clean, spacious room with comfy bed. Good breakfast as well included in price.

The only thing that would be nice is if there was a kitchen, although we were able to use the kettle, panini press and microwave in the dining area, and there were fridges in the hallway that could be used to store food.
Staff were very friendly and accommodating. We stored out luggage while doing the W trek for a small charge. Nice to have a simple breakfast included. Toiletries were also included which was nice. The staff let us use some plates and cutlery when we made sandwiches for our hike.
