Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyLong-time Travelers like me sometimes need to do a little washing, only by hand. It would be great if there was a small place to hang up one or two pieces. I didn’t ask for that and I am quite sure Rossana and Claudio would find a solution. :-)
Hostal Ayni is a beautiful place to stay in San Pedro. My room was very comfortable, the hostel is very clean and Rossana and Claudio are very welcoming and warmhearted hosts. I stayed all in all five nights and it was no problem storing luggage while I went on a four-days-trip to Uyuni. The terrasse is just great, sunny until early afternoon. Hostal Ayni is located very close to busy Caracoles street and to the bus terminal but still far enough to have peace and quiet. Thanks for having me with you, Rossana y Claudio!

United StatesThe owner and his wife use the space so sometimes it's a bit awkward as you feel you are in their home and they are using the seats with the best view of the volcano. If you're looking for a more private accommodation experience this may not be your hostal.
Room was comfortable, nice to have the skylight and fan as it was an inside room so no other windows. Bathroom was clean with hot water and good water pressure.

CanadaHostal Ayni lived up to expectations. Just what I was hoping for. I stayed in a private room with a shared bathroom. The room was clean, spacious enough to layout my things, had a very powerful tabletop fan (which can be needed some nights), and had a comfortable bed with a very warm comforter for those cold nights. The location of the hostel is an advantage to others because it is easy walking distance to the center of town, which makes it quiet and peaceful away from the noise but not too far either. There is a big open kitchen for use with all the amenities needed, a fridge, stove, and ample seating inside and outside. There is a lot of seating outside and two hammocks to hang out or have meals. This allowed all the guests to not feel crowded around each other. There’s a tienda very close by (a few metres) that comes in handy if you need something quickly (water, snacks, etc.). The hosts were very accommodating to all requests for the 5 days I stayed there. They even allowed me to stay a little longer than checkout time to align with the pick up time for my shuttle to the airport. The bathrooms are cleaned daily so there was always a welcoming bathroom to use after a full day out. It is not your typical hostel feel but more like living in a home, which is good because it attracts more mature guests and keeps the place quiet. I highly recommend this place.

GermanyWe had a wonderful stay at Hostal Ayni. The rooms are cozy, the terrace has the most beautiful view on the volcanoes and the owners are so nice :). We stayed there for 6 days and felt like a home away from home. Everything was really clean and relaxing in the shade on the terrace after a long tour was great. The main street is just around 5 minutes to walk.

GermanyIn front of our room there were sometimes dogs barking at night, but the hosts don’t have any influence on this. Just wear ear plugs if you are sensitive to noises. Was also not every night.
Close to the centre, but a little further from the noise. Very comfortable and cozy! Beautiful view on the volcano from the outside area. The accommodation had everything we needed! Rosanna and Claudio are super kind and do their very best to make you feel at home! Claudio even offers some individual tours for a reasonable price if you are interested. We went to Valle de los Cactus with him - very nice! It’s definitely a plus if you understand/ speak some Spanish for communicating with them ;)

SloveniaThere was only one thing that kinda ruined the experience for me. If you will be prepared in advance it may not bother you. The price for three nights stated to be payed on property was 108$ (99€). When i wanted to pay the owner tried to convince me to pay in cash as it is better for them. I had no cash so i payed in credit card. Owner told me there will be 5% more, i agreed. In the end i payed 125€ which is approximatelly 16% more from the price stated on booking. Again, the owners are both extremely friendly and the place is nice. It is a pitty that they are ruining the vibe and the rating for these 16%.
Mainly the location - close to the center but still far enough from the noise of the city center. The owners are extremely nice and helpfull. They even landed me a jacket for the tour to geiseers.
