The only thing I could think of is the bathroom in my room could do with a more modern update. Otherwise everything was good.

Lovely hostel with everything you need. Staff here were brilliant and helpful. There is a full kitchen and small kitchenette you can use to prepare your own food. The small rooftop area is very nice and chilled. Definitely be great in the summer months. The hostel has a bar/restaurant attached which had a great choice of food and drink for reasonable prices. Definitely a great place for solo traveler’s, couples and small groups. The hostel doesn’t have its own laundry but there is a local one around the corner and they will deliver your washing to reception at the end of day. Breakfast was lovely here served in the bar/restaurant. And all guest get a discount in the bar/restaurant and the small pizza place downstairs to which is very nice bonus.

The check in and check out process was a bit long, forms to sign basically saying you’ll behave, bit strange as I havent come across this before.

The private room was great, super comfy bed, lovely shower. The breakfast was better than most hostels we’ve stayed at in Chile, good value for money because of this. We also got a discount at the restaurant without paying extra on booking.com so no need to buy the upgraded room.

1) the cats can get into your room if you accidentally keep the door open for a while, which is kind of annoying 2) the shower area doesn’t have a place for holding the shampoo and the soap 3) the two floor layout is not convenient for the single room (need to go up and down for using the restroom) 4) the neighborhood doesn’t feel safe, in particular at night 5) they were understaffed. They (The front counter) either need to serve faster or hire more.

They didn't clean up the room - and worse - didn't unblock the toilet, that was kind of clogged and for which we'd asked for repairing.

The position of the hostel is just great, close to most of the best venues in town.

The bed wasn’t very sturdy, or at least it felt like it might fall apart at any moment.

Nice design, good location, good value, kind staff and A/C. We also really liked the rooftop terrace it was very cozy.

Even in 5-star hotels, the downfall is in the bathroom! Leaking showers and taps, loose toilet lids, poor tiling (sometimes dangerously slippery!) and… exhaust fittings clogged up with lint and dead skin!! The fault lies, not with cleaners, but with management… and it’s as true in Canada’s Fairmont Hotels as it is in La Joya…😢

Although repetitive, breakfast was fresh and healthy… including fruit daily and ‘just the right amount’ of scrambled egg in a skillet! As a restaurant, lunches and dinners were also healthy and well-priced…and David Vivas is a Valuable Employee!

Very little atmosphere. The area of town around the bus station isn't the safest at all, wouldn't walk at night alone. Got a bit of hassle, and I'm not usually much of a magnet, can feel the eyes on you as you walk around.

The hostel is grand. Clean, bed is great. New.

It was quite cold when we were there, no heaters in the room. But they provided us with extra blankets. Breakfast basic.

My room consisted of two levels and the only window was on the upper level but the desk was on the lower one. So I always had to switch on the light when I wanted to work. They also played music at the reception during the day and as all rooms are circled around the reception area, you hear it. It's not too loud, though.

The staff was very nice and the wifi was fast. Although it's a hostel, it was never noisy in the evenings. Good breakfast (apart from the bread) and I appreciated the possibility to have lunch at the restaurant at a discounted price. The bus terminal is within walking distance and the train quickly takes you to Viña del Mar. There's a big supermarket (Jumbo) and two clothing stores around the corner.

Great hostel with good breakfast and lovely staff, but not a good location (I didn’t realise when I was booking how Valpo was laid out) and the kitchen had no utensils or plates or bowls. It feels safe though and the beds were comfy and everyone was friendly.

Friendly staff, especially Nicole and the cleaning staff who were eager to help with directions and use of public transportation! Nice restaurant, too, right next door. Breakfast was ok, same as in most places. Location is near the long-distance bus terminal, but on the opposite side of the UNESCO world heritage part of the town (about 30’ on foot).
