Nothing. We liked everything! Just be aware, if you are without a car, the lodge is located about an hour walk outside of SPdA. But they can refer a taxi service for you that is cheap and friendly. We even walked it several times and enjoyed the walk (on a small road off the main road), but undoubtedly the feasibility of the walk depends on the season and temps.

There are two things that stand out- the facilities and the staff. Our room was very well appointed, clean, and energy efficient. Everything worked, and we were lacking nothing. Similarly, all of the common areas were comfortable and well appointed. The breakfast room is cozy and bright. The breakfast is great. The entire place has a consistent, harmonious theme. Well designed, well made, and well maintained. But maybe the best aspect is the staff. Everyone was warm and friendly. They were patient with my Spanish (and no doubt, they speak beautiful English too). They offered great restaurant suggestions, and always asked about our activities for the day to help plan for our needs, like packing a "to go" breakfast or lunch. The staff are just genuine and service oriented, always one step ahead. I highly recommend Lodge Quelana.

Staff: super professional and attentive. Many thanks to Paola, Marcia and Nadja (from the breakfast service) who made our stay much more nice. Room: spacious, cozy, comfortable and clean. Bathroom: shower is very relaxing, with high pressure hot water. Breakfast: Very tasty and had a good selection of items (my wife is lactose intolerant and they were able to provide lactose-free milk and yogurt upon request). It starts at 7:30am, but if you are heading out early to visit the sights, just let the staff know the day before and they will provide you with a bag with some breakfast items. Parking: you can park your car with no extra cost. Location: it is about 4km from downtown so you can reach Quelana by driving along Ruta 23 or with with a shuttle service. It would be great to have more signs on the road indicating where Quelana is. Check out is at 12pm but we planned to leave the city after 8pm, as we were going to visit the Altiplanic Lagoons, so our luggage was left in a locker. We came back to Quelana Lodge about 7pm and showered in a bathroom (very clean) next to the pool. All at no additional cost. We would definitely stay at Quelana again!

Nothing that sticks out

They are all individual cabins. They are nicer in person than the photos. Pool isn’t heated which seems unnecessary but it too cold to use. It’s quiet and peaceful

Everything. The staff were so helpful and attentive. They made an effort towards all of the little things like a takeaway breakfast and an onsite telescope.

Slightly outside town. This place is a quiet oasis to go rest after exploring the desert. The rooms were spacious, beautiful, and very clean. With a good breakfast and a quiet swimming pool area to relax. But, the highlight is the staff; everyone I interacted with from cleaning staff, the kitchen, and especially the front desk went above and beyond to make this an amazing trip. I can not recommend this place enough.

We absolutely loved our 6 day stay. The lodge is quaint and only about 10 minutes from the center. We were incredibly well taken care of, from suggestions on what to do when we arrived, to packed breakfast when we had early tours. The room was impecable too! Would definitely recommend this lodge! Also, we were happy we had a car (4x4 is recommended if you want to do some sites without a tour). Highly recommend renting a car and have the flexibility of moving around instead of paying for every tour.

Staff really really nice, available and adaptable to our needs. room clean all days and fully equiped with everything we needed. quiet place perfect to rest after a long day hiking. having a car is a must, the parking is available and very well organized. we will definitely return.

I think for the distance you can’t go on foot to the city center, though this was already known (and chosen) by us. Unless you intend to have dinner late you shouldn’t have any kind of inconvenience.

Great hotel with very friendly and attentive staff. If you are driving, it is a great place to stay (just a few minutes from the center of San Pedro and away from the crowds and noise). But if you don't plan on renting a car, I think a hotel closer to the center might be a better option, although there are taxis there (we didn't use them). Simple but very good breakfast and comfortable facilities. A great and comfortable place to stay and relax after walking all day in the magnificent desert landscapes.

Quelana Lodge made our Atacama Desert trip truly memorable. The accomodations are modern, clean and the location for exploring the area was perfect. It’s a quiet oasis, easy to find if you follow the host’s instructions and close to San Pedro without being in the hustle and bustle of the town.

The staff is amazing. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, helpful and sweet. It felt like family, they are really loving people running the lodge. The rooms are impeccable thanks to Jenny, the breakfast is a feast with freshly baked goods by Dalia (she also makes eggs any style you want) and Natalia and Paola have the best tips to organize your days there. They also sorted breakfast for takeaway when we had to leave early. Incredible attention to detail, thank you everyone!

There was nothing about this property that I didn't like

This property was quite the find. We were very happy and impressed. I don't believe the pictures and write-ups can really express how nice this place is. Each room is like its own separate bungalow with a private porch to relax, read, or enjoy a nice glass of wine. The rooms are large and very clean. The bathrooms are nicely tiled and have huge showers. The property in not right in San Pedro but a mere 5 minute drive away. This suited us just fine. There is also plenty of parking in a secure area. The pool was really nice and private. There were very impressive custom-made lounges throughout the pool area. It was really pretty. The breakfast was served in a private dining building and was outstanding. The woman who served it was very helpful and nice! Lastly, I can't express enough how helpful the women were at the front desk. Each day they would review my itinerary and help me make adjustments to make everything just perfect. They were beyond patient with me and spoke good enough English for us to communicate. They also picked great restaurants for us in San Pedro. They were fantastic! There is also a stargazing platform above the main office which provides excellent views of the sky. I would stay here again if I ever get back to this beautiful area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The host Natalia went out of her way to ensure we were at home. She is one shop stop for everything you want to know about San Pedro/Atacama - which restaurants to go, best tourist spots, how to book tickets etc. she even made us a to-go snack box when we had to leave early for a site visit and missed our breakfast.
