How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The rooms really need an update since 1990, I guess. The central A/C system works at 50% which causes humidity issues. Bathroom without windows nor air extractor.
Breakfast and swimming pool are really ok. The location is perfect for all your business meetings in Douala.

The room was a little small and decor rather dated, though I think this had to do with the Ibis aesthetic. One of the receptionists, Gloriet (?) was not friendly or particularly helpful. She upset my partner on the first day of her stay when enquiring about taxi transportation. The lads at the desk and on security were wonderful.
The location was perfect for our temporary stay, granting access to parts of Douala we needed to visit. The lounge area and dining space were perfect - I loved the paintings - and the staff downstairs very welcoming. Breakfast was enjoyable too, and the swimming pool a real bonus!

There was a live event on 1 weekend which was very disturbing where there was live singing till midnight due to which it was a troublesome to sleep in the night . And after requesting them to reduce the volume they did not even bother

Ibis is many times so and so in Europe, but this one was a positive surprise! The very friendly staff and kitchen made a late dinner even we arrived at the closing time of the restaurant! Rooms 'Ibistiny' but clean and good beds!

The size of the rooms could have been more big, and the service of food to be delivered in room which is not available is inconvenient .
The cleanliness, Enviornment and Location was perfectly pleasant. The service as well as the buffet for breakfast was perfect

Rooms need to be upgraded. For example there is just one plug which is so far from the bed.

A bit old, can be renovated to compete with other modern hotels
I had a great time in this property, Rooms are clean, staff is friendly, food (breakfast) was very good. Swimming pool was very clean, security is assured. I will definitely stay here again.

The fragrance (i think) at the entrance was too strong that I didn't want to stay long. There was no outlet near the bed. The voltage was low so it took all night to charge a phone up to 90%.
Clean international standard Business hotel. So much better inside compared with the exterior. Bed was confortable. Pool was ok. Overall good value for price. Service was good. WiFi also good.

very small room; the staff work in the hotel, need more train how to do the jobs. when i m check out, i ask the reception staff about the hotel shuttle bus to airport, she is talk to me is arrange it and ask me waiting, i m sit in the lobby almost 1 hour, and i ask several time when can get shuttle bus ready go to airport, the reception just said shuttle bus is come on the way, but never said i should waiting how long again. its waste my time to waiting. if can not arrange the hotel shuttle bus, just told to me. i can take taxi by myself. no need waiting and waste my time to waiting. because my flight time is close, in final, i can not waiting, i take taxi leave the hotel go to airport.
