How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewWifi was good, the room was so big and clean for 1 person, the location is 10min far on walk from the nearest metro station "National Art Museum Station - Exit A". It's price is a bit higher, having everyday 2 free bottles of water is great
Not all the staff members can speak good English, but my biggest problem is that the roof was closed for us, I was told that it is only for meeting for the staff. This was a huge problem because they had photos of the view on booking. The view I missed during my stay was the reason I picked this hotel so that was really bad.
thank you for your review ,and i am sorry for your missing view! the roof is opend in the morning on working days, and during these days it's closed for some special reasons, it will be opened next month (september ). Apologize sincerely!hope to see you again!

Verified reviewThe location is the best part of the hotel, it's close to Forbidden City, restaurants and shops and it was easy to go around. The staff was also very nice. My first encounter was a bit unfriendly with the reception, but that changed when Miss Zhang assisted me. She was so friendly and helpful, and thanks to her, I got to do the activities I wanted the most. She always had a lovely smile even during the night shift, and she took an extra step to make sure my questions were answered properly. She's the sweetest person I met in Beijing. Housekeeping staff was also very friendly :)
I am glad that you got a good experience at our hotel. And I will transfer your review to MS zhang. if it's possible plz let us know who 's the unfrendly one, you can discribe his/her look. Thank you.

Verified reviewEverything was great except for the terrace was permanently closed and we could mot understand why. If the facility is not available the management should disclose it in the booking not to appear in the filters with terrace facilities. Also, the strange smell someone mentioned in other comments can be overcome by opening the window at night and keeping it closed at daytime. I must say the staff was super great. The great location and also a tidy room.
we will consider your opinion for the terrace. Thank you for your comment.

Verified reviewIt is near to the forbidden city and Jingsan park. The staff are very helpful. The room amenities are basic but good. There was even a washing machine but I didn’t use it. The fridge was big and worked well. There are restaurants and convenience stores nearby. Transport, buses and subway are not too far to walk to.
The bed is too hard even though I am used to firmer bed. No breakfast.

The place does not appear as a location on didi or a map and was really frustrating to locate it. The address is in Chinese and does not work well for English. The bed was so hard and horrible. Reception was not friendly and hospitable to foreigners.

Verified reviewReally disorganized staff - I arrived after midnight and had already informed the hotel I would and they’d confirmed. I rang the buzzer since no one was at the front gate and ended up ringing it 5 times over a 15 minute period until someone woke up and asked me why I didn’t ring the buzzer. Then they couldn’t find my booking. It was 1:20am (30 minutes almost since I got there) that I finally got the key to my room.
Staff disorganized and said that they’d talk to their manager about what could be done given my situation and poor experience. They never followed up. I won’t stay here again. I’ve traveled to 41 countries and this was the worst staff experience I’ve had.
thank you for your comments and we are very sorry that you got a bad experience at our hotel. I've transfered the problems you mentioned to the relative staff and their managers, i belive you will get a different experience when you come next time. Apologize again and thank you so much.
