How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIt's the personal touch that made our stay at Little Forest exceptional. The terrace behind our room was nestled in a grove of mature bamboo which felt idyllic and peaceful. And the daily breakfast, excellent coffee, and morning walks alongside the river made this a nice getaway for us. My wife is learning to play the guqin and practices every day when we're at home, so what a nice surprise to find that there was a guqin on site (the owner is also learning to play the instrument) that my wife could continue her daily practice on. The owner was incredibly helpful, making daily activity suggestions and recommendations and even arranging for (and driving) us to swim in a nearby pool that was fed by mountain water. We hope to be back to visit Little Forest in the future; it's the type of guesthouse that feels like home.

Verified reviewWe reached this hotel by car from Shanghai (hired a driver). We were there during a Chinese bank holiday, yet it was still very peaceful. Some of the main tourist spots were busier, but it’s easy to avoid those if you prefer. We didn’t mind, and everyone was incredibly friendly. The hotel area is absolutely stunning, surrounded by mountains, rivers, and bamboo forests. There are many activities available, and you can book them directly through the hotel: walking, hiking, cycling, rafting, paragliding, and more. The hotel also offers bicycles for rent. Nearby, there are a few restaurants. While there’s no Western cuisine in the area, you won’t need it— the local restaurants serve fantastic, fresh food. The owners are very friendly and patient, even with our poor Mandarin skills :) Your host can help you choose the best places to eat. The hotel itself is exceptional. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable, and beautifully designed. The beds are perfect, and the noise level is quite low. There are charming outdoor seating areas where you can enjoy drinks, coffee, ice cream, and more from the small bar. Breakfast is delicious, too. Bottles of water or free to grab. The hosts are truly outstanding—friendly, relaxed, and always willing to help. Whether it’s taking you to scenic spots, booking activities, or drawing personalised walking and cycling maps. Their laid-back approach made us feel at home. For us, the hotel and its surroundings offered everything we wanted: wonderful hosts, delicious food, tranquility, a relaxed vibe, breathtaking nature, and plenty of activities.
There was nothing we didn't like.
We are truly honored by your approval of our services.

Verified reviewVery seldom write reviews, but just have to comment on how great the stay was. The hotel was beautiful, room spotless and thoughtfully furnished. The location is far out, but close to the scenic spots. Best of all the hosts were just great. They gave me rides places and picked me up, gave tips on hiking routes, made me a packed lunch at short notice and spoke English really well. All in all they made a short trip perfect. Can’t wait to come back in the summer.

Verified reviewHost was amazing. We were not able to get a taxi back from an area one day. I texted the host and he came to collect us. Not only did he collect us, but he also showed us a beautiful lake and a waterfall as well as make us pizza when we got back to the hotel as places were closed when we wanted to eat. Breakfast was varied and the iced coconut lattes were excellent. There are some very friendly cats that stay at the hotel too.
Bikes were broken. The hotel could do with purchasing some new bikes for guests to use.

Verified reviewSweet, little location. Great for a weekend away. Dog friendly. Very comfy rooms.
We had a hard time finding food. No restaurant, and places nearby were closed. Breakfast was available in resort though, the owner makes it for you and it was quite good. Still, definitely pack food if you go.
More than happy to meet you and your pets in Chinese New Year. Yes most of the restaurants were closed in that time. But they are all open in the rest of year. Packing food is also a good suggestion because we have good view kitchen with kitchenwares…….

Verified reviewBreakfast was great and filling, and the owner is an amazing cook. We had an assortment of food, from cheese to fruits and from Chinese food to Western. Although coffee is also served for free, the owners also manage a coffee shop so for an additional fee, we can get freshly-made latte. They also went beyond just the usual service and lent us bikes so we can go around the town and restaurants. Will go back for sure.
