Serene Courtyard in the heart of Lijiang's Old Town is an absolute gem, and the host is the heart and soul of the establishment. For travelers seeking an authentic and heartwarming experience, this is the place to be. My room was cozy, clean, and thoughtfully designed, and I had no issues with the accommodation whatsoever. From the lookout area, the views of the Old Town and the surrounding mountains are simply breathtaking. While the facilities are top-notch, it's the unparalleled hospitality that truly sets this place apart. The owner is incredibly friendly, energetic, and extremely knowledgeable about the area. He was the highlight of my trip. Over the 3 nights I stayed, we would just sit and have tea for hours. He took me around to meet the owners of some long-running local shops, took me out for a late-night feed, and we enjoyed a super chill and fantastic live performance at a local bar. The real magic of Serene Courtyard lies in the genuine connection and the immaculate vibes. If you're looking for a place where you're treated like family and get to experience the true essence of Lijiang, look no further. And make sure to try the tea he offers – it’s amazing (and completely free).

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely boutique hotel right in the heart of Lijiang Ancient Town. The location is perfect—tucked away just enough to feel peaceful, yet steps from all the charm and vibrancy of the old town. The hotel itself is beautifully designed, with thoughtful touches that reflect the local culture and architecture. We would happily stay here again!

Nothing, everything was great!

Wonderful location in the heart of the ancient town. Beautiful decor in the interior property. Very clean and had all amenities that we needed. Close by to delicious restaurants and souvenir stores. Walking distance to many main attractions in the ancient town.

everything was perfect! nothing to complain about at all!

A remarkable experience! The host is very friendly and helpful, giving advice on where to enjoy great food and what places to visit. He also invited us for tea and chat daily. Whatever request we had he would serve us immediatly. The hotel itself is located right in the middle of an old town with plenty of tourist spots all around. The local night life is about 10 minutes walk away where you can go to plenty of bars and clubs with different themes - which unfortunatly means on a busy summer night you might hear it in your room, but not excessively loud! The rooms are recently renovated with modern ammeneties in a traditional design. The host also arranged for airport pick up and drop off, which was very convinient. All in all a 10/10 stay. We loved every day and night!

Room is a little smaller than expected but is still managable.

Located within Lijiang Ancient City (丽江古城), which makes it convenient for us to explore the beautiful area at night. It is also directly opposite Mu's Mansion (木俯) which makes it easier when navigating back from exploring Lijiang Ancient City. The uneven stone pavement makes it diffficult for us to wheel our luggages but host kindly helped us with it. Contacted host before arrival and he kindly made transport arrangements for us (self-paid). He even brought us around the Lijiang Ancient City and gave us very good food & photoshoot recommendations. Room was clean and the bed was super comfortable.

I stayed at Serene Courtyard Inn for 3 nights during my trip to Lijiang, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The place is true to its name — peaceful, beautifully maintained, and full of character. The rooms were spotless, the courtyard was calm and picturesque, and the location was just perfect — in the old town but still quiet. But what really made this stay unforgettable was the host, Luo Xing. He’s genuinely one of the best hosts I’ve ever met. He went above and beyond for everything — from recommending the best local food spots to helping us arrange taxis and day trips. Every question we had, he had an answer, and every need we had, he was already a step ahead. If you’re visiting Lijiang and want a comfortable, authentic stay with incredible hospitality, Serene Courtyard Inn is the place to be. Highly recommended!

Minor comments, for picky people: - add hooks for bath robs - maybe include drying racks

I would recommend this place if you want to experience Lijiang and its culture. The owner and his sister are the highlight of this place. The owner is extremely welcoming and will attend to all your requests. He is very funny, an offers you refreshing tea (I kept going back for the tea) he will also ask you for an arm wrestling, so come prepared. Location… perfect. However, please contact the hosts to help you with your luggage as the road is traditional chines, and difficult to roll suitcases, but the owner will assist you. The hotel provided everything you need. I was surprised to a huge rounded bath tub where you can relax, basically a jacuzzi in your room. The only minor comment I would make is that hooks for bath robs should be added, but this is me being extremely picky. Coming from someone who stayed at the grand Hyatt religiously, this place in terms of Value for money/ comfort/ clean, it was perfect. After a long trip the bed was like a cloud. Also, when you want to relax before bed, they have a TV with everything you want to watch, even the football. But most importantly, he has a puppy…

Everything about this place is wonderful. The rooms are very comfortable with lots of small touches— a nice tea set, an oil diffuser, great soaps and products, and a beautiful tub. The balcony is amazing— views of the traditional roofs, tiles, and mountains. The location is perfect— so much close by. The staff and owner were beyond helpful and we drank lots of good tea together. Don’t hesitate to book this place. We can’t wait to return. There’s also a really great market just outside of old town, a few minutes walk from this place. We only saw it as we were leaving, but make sure you check it out!

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The location is perfect, making it super convenient to explore all the tourist spots. The owner even picked us up from the drop-off point, which was a really nice touch. The room was huge and very clean, including the bathtub! Plus, the big balcony was perfect for relaxing after a long day. The owner was incredibly friendly, sharing lots of useful tourist information, and the staff were all welcoming and helpful. We highly recommend this place to our friends and would definitely stay here again!

The daily cleaning was not very thorough, so cleanliness could be improved.

The location was excellent, right in the middle of the old town. However it didn’t feel noisy and it was still private. It was very easy to walk around the old town. The hotel manager was very hospitable and went out of his way to provide us with local recommendations. The room itself was comfortable and came with an outdoor seating area. Overall value for money.
