How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewNicely and modernly decorated room. Breakfast was nice. Superb laundry facilities. Location cannot be better: few steps from the Bell Tower and surrounding commercial area, and within walking distance from the Walls.
All good.

Verified reviewHotel was in a great location next to the Bell Tower. Hotel about 12 minute walk from the subway/metro station. Airport bus dropped off right outside the hotel - NOTE - Google maps has the hotel in the wrong location. Breakfast good. Lots of free bottled water - nice and handy. Felt safe at hotel and in the area. Used Didi for trip to and from Terracotta Warriors - about 75 yuan each way. Hotel about 10 minutes walk to the Drum Tower and the markets behind it. No English TV/movie channels - just in Chinese. Would definitely stay at this hotel again. 7-11 close by.

Verified reviewGood location but the rooms were noisy. There’s a disco bar near the hotel that makes lots of noise until 3am. The breakfast was good but could be improved to have more western food options (ex. Diferent types of bread, granola,..)

Verified reviewMy brother left his handphone in the didi taxi, the front office Mr Kevin Han is exceptional helpful and professional in his service when handling the situation promptly to help us trace the didi driver to get back the phone within an hour.
Our toilet bowl was badly choked in our first 2 nights stay and we need to change room causing a lot of inconvenience.

Verified reviewThe location is the best, really close to the city wall and Bell and drum tower and Muslim quarter. The room is not too big but it is perfect for a 3 or 4 days, clean and comfortable beds.

Verified reviewThe location is central.
The breakfast was small, but the hotel itself is also pretty small. The rooms while refurbished need a good clean. The staff weren't too helpful. I was also checked-in into a room at 4am that had night club music banging through the windows. Also not very important but for those who care my room had a pretty grim view.

Verified reviewSo much about our stay was amazing, when you have so much choice of hotels and you choose the perfect one based on researching reviews, one can only give oneself a high five! Honestly this hotel had it all. The location, the helpful staff, the amenities, the washing machines and dryer, the free water and cool drinks and the breakfast. The room was clean, great water pressure in the shower and comfortable beds. We were only here for one night but would definitely book here again next.

Verified reviewExcellent location near everything in Xian. Comfortable beds and everything usual was available. Staff were good and everything was nearby.
The window was looking into another building, could hear the laundry from the room. Breakfast had limited Chinese food choices. But overall, a decent stay for the cost.

Verified review1. The location is great. Very close to the Bell Tower. I actually arrived to Xi'an by train and reached the hotel by metro. They sent me the detailed instructions how to reach them if you go by metro. 2. The room was good and convenient. Everything necessary was provided. 3. The travel agents in the lobby arranged the transfer to the airport for me for only 30 yuan. Everything was arranged very good. 4. There are lots of places to eat or have coffee around the hotel.

Verified reviewThe room was clean and well-maintained by the staff. The breakfast buffet was very good and I could even get coffee before breakfast started. The best thing was--I understand this is typical in hotels in China--there were two well-equipped landry rooms where guests could wash and dry clothes free of charge. Wow, this was a first! Free laundry in a hotel. Finally, the location was awesome. The hotel is located in the historic city center within the ancient city wall nestled between the Drum Tower and the Bell Tower. Across the street from the main entrance there is a convenience store and 2 or 3 small local restautants serving Xi'an's famous pork sandwiches and belt noodles. There are more upscale restaurants on the main avenue a 2-minute walk from the hotel.
Not the hotel's fault, but summer is hot in Xi'an so it may not be the best season to visit with small children or older adults. It was really hot in August.
