The friendliest host we had on all our trip to China. Fantastic location, beautiful architecture and a wonderful terrace to relax. Good sanitary facilities. Very helpful staff. Our stay was spontaneously extended without any problem.

The location on Gulangyu island is superb. It is a characterful and well-renovated heritage building with a lovely garden. The owner and staff went out of their way to make our stay a memorable one.

Staying at Heitan was a lovely experience allowing a calming and relaxed getaway from Xiamen city. It was lovely to drink tea under the trees in the courtyard and to bask in the atmosphere. The staff at the hotel were also very friendly and helpful, they kindly met us at the pier from where our ferry arrived and helped direct us to the hotel. As it was winter solstice, they also kindly made us delicious tang yuan to celebrate.

I had a wonderful stay in this cozy and clean accommodation. The staff were exceptionally friendly and made me feel very welcome.

The hotel is situated on a gorgeous island just a short boat ride from Xiamen. We were given a fantastic room that far exceeded our expectations and really made our stay on Guyangyu special. The reception staff took care to meet us from the boat and communicated via WeChat very well, they even recommended an excellent restaurant. We will return.

When we were finished, the staff was not going to help us back to the ferry. and we're not calling for someone who would do that.

That they looked after us on arrival and showed us a few of the streets in the neighbourhood. The hotel was clean and staff friendly

there were quite a bit of mosquitoes in the bedroom. you could benefit from putting a insect screen by the windows to prevent this

it looks very comfortable, relaxing and the front view of the hotel looks nice. it had a nice, good and simple breakfast and suits us very well

Everything about our stay at this wonderful hotel was perfect! Great and helpful and friendly staff, beautiful room with a nice garden. We stayed for 10 days at this hotel on the lovely Gulangyu Island and would love to come back to Gulangyu Heitan Hotel! We would like to say thank you from our hearts for this stay! There are no screens to the windows so you need to accept that with air flow you may get a mosquito or two. That said it didn’t seem that bad. The sheets and bathroom were all very clean but the rooms definitely seem a bit more run down than in the photos, decor wise. However I’d still recommend this place, since so few of the places on Gulangyu accept foreign tourists.

First, I need to mention that they recently (like as of a week ago from what the receptionist said) got approved to host foreign passport holder patrons and booking.com hasn’t updated this yet. Our whole group was American and we were able to stay here just fine. Just make sure you can either pay in cash or wechat. We paid in cash so I can’t confirm if Alipay works here, ask about that. Just make sure you have the right amount since oftentimes people don’t have change. The property is in a great location near the top of the hill so you get a nice breeze. The service was friendly and good and the breakfast, which is not included but is very cheap about $2 USD, is great. We also got one free upgrade since they had availability.

great location! the staffs are very friendly and helpful, they offered us many options on restaurants and saved us a plenty of time. the hotel itself has a long history, love the garden, great place to have your coffee while watching the cats. overall, it’s a great stay!

Ridiculously high price. This is much, much higher price than the similar hotels around. I should cancel my booking and book a hotel myself on the island. I feel I had been taken advantage by this hotel and booking.com.
