How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The payment system said it took American Express. But your system kept rejecting my cards (happened the last time in January too) Called Amex and the monitored their end when I tried to pay. No transaction was seen by Amex which meant your payment system was not connecting to Amex or it was rejecting the payment method. You need to get that sorted or just remove Amex from your literature as it's clearly not working

Verified reviewHousekeeping lady that frequently cleaned our apartment was exceptional. She was friendly and kind. Always replenished tissues and water as requested (there were a couple family members that had a cold). Buffet breakfast was good, not enough variety.
The cleanliness of the apartment. Our bath tub and shower in the main bedroom was clogged. Even though we asked to fix it, the bath tub was still clogged. The shower drain was better but still pooled water after use. The whole floor was dirty as if it had never been mopped (multiple antibacterial wipes used to clean were black). There were various stains (varnish or something sticky) spilt on the floor and walls in the hallway and near the tv unit. We had to thoroughly clean the property as we were travelling with my 3yo and 6 month old. The study was nothing like the photos advertised on the website. The photo showed the study to be fully furnished with books, desk, lamps etc, however in real life, there was only a desk, chair and small empty bookshelf. Location was good, however there was no drop off zone at the front of the hotel which was not convenient when hauling a cab or getting picked up by car. Overall, it was a good stay, very spacious and felt like living at home.

Verified reviewLocation was perfect. It’s close to all local amenities. The subway was within walking distance. The room was spacious. Beds were comfortable. The buffet breakfast was good. There were lots of options for everyone. The staff were nice too. They were very helpful with quick responses to all needs.
I could smell the cigarette in the corridor and in the room. This was unpleasant.

Just be aware that breakfast is not free for all visitors - we only got 2 free breakfasts with our 2br apartment.

Verified reviewThe card read had issues reading the Amex Card. Contacted Amex and they said no issue with card the error code is due to fault in Host Terminal. Ended up paying the deposit via another card.
Made to pay the full bill 3 day before chexk out other time we have stayed paid the bill at end of stay when leaving. Not sure why the process has changed? Other two time we have stayed the cleaning staff always left new tooth bushes and bed sheets But this rime items.not changed or provide. Has there been a change of management / owners ? Reception Staff not as helpfull as previous two visits seemed to follow a scripted process and if things did not work. Ie card readerthe guests as told the problem.waa with tehm.not the Appartments.equipment. one.phone call provide it was not... When we next visit China at the end of the year might try another appartment as your now seem to have changed doe the worst not the better

The staff at the reception were not good at English for foreigners. I was curious of the payment system that my deposit not refunded when checking out. But the staff didn’t explain the system fully. And my information was written in wrong ways in the document that made me more annoyed. Staff needs to be more professional and educated the service training for the international customers.

One elevator failed, so down to two. Water went off one day and took longer than expected to be reconnected. The fact it took longer was not communicated very well. But staff did sort out the issue.
