Location was great near the south gate of the wall. Had lots of restaurants in the neighborhood. Good atmosphere at night.

United KingdomThe rooms were quite dusty, and some of the doors lock just by using a padlock which I wasn’t a fan of. It was quite messy by the lobby and the public bathroom downstairs was very dirty.
Had an issue with our original hotel. We were able to book this hotel and just turn up, staff were accommodating and helpful. They gave us umbrella’s for the day to borrow as it was raining which was nice.

ChinaThe street was noisy at night, there are lots of bars nearby. The hostel allows smoking, so it was smelly specially the corridor. The toilet was embedded, and the glass door had a gap , not so private if you share a room.
Location is extremely convenient, there are cafes, local restaurants and the park that surround the wall within 5 minutes walking distance, the staff was helpful and polite , and eager to help. The price is unbeatable for the location. Beds were soft yet firm, I had a great sleep every night. The rooftop has great view from the wall and cityscape.

It's well situated, the metro and many attractions are close to the hotel. At the reception there are different tips explaining how we can go to the different attractions in Xian.

United KingdomPerfunctory check-in and lack of warm and welcoming attitude. Room was dirty. Hostel advertised a rooftop bar but when I went there it was closed amd there were no staff around. Although the property advertises itself as a hostel, it didn't really feel like one. There was none of the social element of other hostels.
This hostel is in a good location right next to the city wall and a 5-minute walk from South Gate. Room was large and fairly comfortable and all toiletries provided. The hostel has a WeChat service where you can message directly if something is needed, which was more convenient than going downstairs.

I had a booking for two weeks, but left after one night. I went to ChengYuchenghao hotel, which was very nice and about the same price (found on trip.com since booking.com seems to not have many hotels in China).

AustraliaRoom photos and descriptions completely inaccurate. They use photos of the best rooms and will put you in a inward facing hovel, then blame the booking website they selected photos to upload to. So be cautious when booking - even the outside facing rooms do not have the claimed views and the property has no balconies. Terribly overpriced for size and quality of rooms. Bed rock hard and floors dirty. English speaking owner lady upstairs was nice but reception staff rude, lazy, arrogant, unprofessional and grossly incompetent. Would not help carry suitcase up stairs even though there is no lift. Refused to help book tours/entry tickets etc., refused to put me in contact with tours/agents, check-in took a very long time, seemed like the rude guy just wanted to waste my time. Internet the worst I have experienced across all of China. Stayed at many places in China and this place was by far the worst, terrible service and room quality over promised, under delivered and over priced. Oh and every time you return to the hotel, you’re welcomed by the smell of cat pee and poo as you enter reception 🥰💩 This is the first review of my stay here, I had the misfortune of staying another night here on a separate, regrettable booking and the service was even worse.

NetherlandsFirst, the room was nothing like the bright rooms in the pictures for the 'standard room' we booked. Because somehow we had been charged a very low rate (about half the normal price), I didn't make a big deal out of it, but I do think the room we stayed in should not be sold as the other 'standard rooms'. It was more like a shed on the roof (no lift to the 4th floor) with an in-room cabin holding the 'bathroom', which in places was taped to the wall and floor. The working desk that was promised in the description, and which I needed, was not present. Some days, we did not get clean towels, shower/bathing gel, toilet paper and water. When we asked about it, they first said 'we're fully booked, so our staff didn't have time to do all rooms' while the second time they said 'we sometimes don't allow the cleaning staff to go into the rooms'. Both explanations are just completely ridiculous. The lady behind the front desk did not come across as very customer-friendly, rarely making eye contact and giving answers like the above. Because the 'room' is in the bright sun on the roof, it got incredibly hot, with the air conditioning never really reaching the programmed temperature.
The male owner/manager was accommodating in refunding us two nights when our travel plans changed. The location is okay, although the nearest metro station is still a bit of a walk for Xi'an standards. We paid a very low rate (150 euro) for one week.

DenmarkYou cannot find the hotel on Google maps, so you need to look here at Booking.com and find a nearby place on Google Maps. Also I had to ask for the address in Chinese, which should be written somewhere, as you need to show this to the taxi driver.
Great location just inside the gate. If you follow the city wall to the west, there is a lively morning market with breakfast options and local life. Nice soft bed and space for sitting and enjoying the view. Roof top also great!
