How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe hotel is really clean, the room is spacious and comfortable, the location and the shuttle service are great.
The unability to communicate with the stuff can be painful. We arrived really early and left the same evening, during our first stay in the hotel we got a breakfast at checkin as we wouldn't be there the next morning which was great. On the second stay the receptionist declined us the breakfast and told us that we can have a dinner (of course using translate application), later her colleagues told us that we won't get anything as the hotel policy doesn't allow it. I was quite frustrated as it took some time to organize food which is not great with two small kids. I would appreciate some flexibility shown during our first stay

Verified reviewIf you’re looking for a location close to the airport this is a good location with multiple shops, restaurants and a metro station very close by. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was good.
No WiFi for non-Chinese software. So I didn’t have WiFi the whole trip and had to work from my global sim. The hotel doesn’t have great facilities. No bar (also nothing available for purchase / no mini bar). There is a restaurant where they also serve breakfast but its in the basement and buffet style so not a spot to have a drink. Everything is just very basic which is fine if you’re planning to go out. They also don’t clean your used cups / glasses and there is no dish soap to do it yourself.

Verified reviewWe booked at Swisstouches during a 20-hour layover. The accomodation had great amenities and really lovely staff. We wanted to visit Pear River during our time, we used local taxi app Didi which was simple, quick and reasonably priced. The room was great, amenities were excellent and buffet breakfast had something to suit everyone. Would definitely recommend.

Verified reviewThe hotel has a fabulous gym and swimming pool area. It also has a free washing machine and dryer service - Western hotels need to do this! It is very close (walking distance) to the Renhu metro station and a big shopping mall and food district.
The whole hotel was set to heating - we had to turn off the air conditioning in our room. When we arrived we did raise that with the reception staff - the woman working on the 29th of December was the most reticent and unwelcoming person we had experienced so far in China. She said open the window if you are hot. Given that we were on a main road which is extremely noisy and dusty, we could not do that all night. We also wore ear plugs as the construction trucks were so loud. The area that the hotel is in is VERY rundown looking - it looks like Bali - broken pavement, scooters everywhere blocking the pavement, railings getting in the way of carrying luggage. The food in the breakfast was cold half the time. I trust the reviews for this hotel more on trip.com than booking.com. It is definitely not an 8.8 for excellence, I would NOT stay here again.

Verified review1. We liked the spacious room and the quiet environment at the hotel. 2. Staff members are friendly and helpful. 3. The foyer area outside the restaurant is chilled and relaxing.
1. We went to breakfast at 9am on both days. Most food items of the breakfast are not heated, and not replenished. 2. The family room assigned to us was really very far away from the lift lobby. It took us about 5 minutes to walk from the room to the lift lobby. 3. The amenities (e.g. body wash and shampoo) were just little. They are stored in tiny bottles and not enough for a family of 4 like us, despite the fact that we already stayed at the family room. 4. No convenience stores nearby. Hard to grab some food near the hotel. 5. Location is really far from the city center (Tian He District). It took 1 hour for the taxi ride.
