Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Unexpected treasure found in China: not yet another typical Chinese hotel, but a very cozy, stylish and modern place with great coffee, laundry facilities and amazing location (not far from the old town while being away from the noise and hustle of its streets).

NetherlandsNothing really comes to mind.
The staff is great, they all speak English and very willing to help. They took me to my room, explained how the A/C worked etc. All extra communications and questions are possible via WeChat, so you never feel helpless. The room is great, big enough, mine was with an extra sort of sitting room. A/C worked really well. All the bathroom facilities are clean, well taken care of and in perfect working order. On the ground floor there is a cafe that has a really contemporary vibe, and their coffee: you'll love it! The location was the only thing that I would have liked to have more clear info about, and don't get me wrong: it IS close to the city wall and the Drum and Bell towers are within easy reach, that's all as described. Only, the first time finding it is a bit tricky, but with Amap app it all worked out beautifully. There're some supermarkets in the vicinity, as well as a great food court and a number of smaller eateries with great (Chinese) breakfast options. You can also ask the staff for their breakfast options. In 5 words: you will enjoy your stay.

AustraliaNo mini fridges in the rooms to cool your drinks. But the staff offered ice water to supplement.
Lovely property, can be a bit confusing to find when you first get there but the staff gave really detailed instructions and guides to find it. They also gave various options to get there from the airport, how long each option took, its cost, and detailed instructions on what to do. Interior is gorgeous, really cute and cozy hotel, mini cafe inside that sells coffee and teas, rooms are spacious, beds are comfortable and the whole hotel was really clean. Staff were incredibly friendly, this is without a doubt the single best service experience I’ve received in my time travelling. They were incredibly helpful going out of their way to provide assistance in transport and booking tickets to tourist attractions, providing recommendations on local venues and even helping find the local apps to use such as Amaps instead of google maps (which is somewhat inaccurate here in china). There were laundry machines with English instructions on them for ease of use, a private area outside to hand laundry for hotel guests, and although the bar wasn’t in use, the ice machine for cold water was, which was certainly a blessing in the summer. Staff spoke English really well, google translate will do the rest for you. Cannot recommend this hotel more highly, absolutely loved my stay and would come back.

United StatesInitially I was a bit unhappy with the location, because it's actually a 1+ mile (1.6 km) walk from a lot of things -- from Wangfujing, the nearby mall, from Huiminjie, the main night market, etc. However, the location grew up on me because (1) it's still only 5 min walk from the nearest subway station (2) on the second to last day we discovered an awesome food court around the corner with great breakfast options. I wish we had discovered that sooner! Lighting can be quite dim, as there are no overhead lights, only floor lamps.
Room was large and clean. Room service came in every day and made sure we had fresh towels and soap + took out trash. Facilities felt quite modern. We used their laundry, and they provided the detergent! AC worked, which is really important in the Xi'an summer heat.

RussiaOne small quirk: the toilet was separated only by a curtain, which may feel unusual to some, but given the open-plan concept of the room, it’s easy to forgive the designers.
A truly delightful hotel just a short walk from the heart of Xi’an — the ancient starting point of the Silk Road. Our room was spacious and beautifully designed, with stylish decor that evoked the grandeur of ancient Rome — a fitting nod to the route’s distant terminus. We were especially impressed by the warmth and attentiveness of the staff — the level of service was outstanding.

SpainThe smell of tabaco
The room was super nice and well equipped. We were travelling for our honeymoon and the staff made the stay even more comfortable. The location is good, outside of the Xian Wall but a few minutes walking to the South Gate. The area is quiet and although it is not easy to find at first you will enjoy the location and the quietness. The only problem we found was the smell of tabaco, it is a common problem in general in China but the smell was so strong that the first night was hard for me to be able to sleep. We spoke with the staffs and the next day was ok. It is a matter of ventilation and be more conscious about that. In general I recommend to stay and enjoy the hotel and the mother rooms and decorations

Warm welcome in this quiet place located in a small village near Guilin. It's a great place to stay if you plan to visit both Yangshuo (around 1 hour and a half drive) and Longji rice terraces. Maria is really nice and we spent great time chatting about different topics (using a translator). She was really helpful for the organization of some activities during our stay, including a full day in Longji with a driver, which I warmly recommend. She was fundamental also when we lost a package in a taxi when leaving and she arranged the delivery to Shanghai in a couple of days, SUPER! You have also the chance to do a cooking class to prepare dumplings and then eat all together, maybe also with other guests travelling. If you are looking for a place in Guilin you should absolutely stay at their place!
