Great location right outside Dali old town, property is beautiful room is very suspicious and comfortable beds .and the owner and his wife are very nice and helpful . very pleasant breakfast . atmosphere is serene. We love the place and highly recommend it.

Dali at peak season is chaotic and disorganised. Public transportation and crowd control are non-existent. Old town main streets are crowded with second hand smoke, tourists spitting and shouting. Avoid coming during peak season, or at least avoid main streets.

Short walkable distance to the old town southern gate, yet with privacy and quietness and distance away from the chaotic crowds from the main streets. The owners are authentic and genuinely helpful. Housekeeping was timely and heart warming local breakfasts were offered every day, alternating between "xi zhou baba" and rice noodles. The owner offered complimentary pick up from train station and helped to arrange a car at affordable price to send us off. Overall a pleasant stay.

The Deluxe two bedroom’s suite is spacious, comfortable and perfect for my family of 4 adults and 1 kid. This is my 2nd stay at Z. Garden. Love its strategic location near the South Gate of Dali ancient city and the neighbouring night market. Many nice restaurants nearby. The host family is very helpful and friendly. Delicious breakfast.

The hotel is perfectly located, away from the hustle and bustle, yet within easy walking distance to the ancient town. We had a family room with two double beds and the place was very spacious and comfortable. The owner Jiuan speaks English, is very friendly and was super helpful and accomodating. We'd be very happy to visit again

Our experience with this guesthouse was great, confirming all the positive reviews and turning out good value for money. Convenient location with short distance to the South Gate of the ancient town and few steps to the vivid night market. Tranquil and beautiful courtyard, spacious room, attentive and helpful owners. We would like to come back to this property again on our next Dali visit.

Not a dislike, but just fyi, location is down a road where vehicles cannot enter, and will have to walk about 3-5 min from drop off point.

Location is just south of old town. Owner upgraded us to a family room which is so big, roomy, clean and extremely comfortable. Every evening the main street outside transform into a food street which is super lively, but far enough that we don't hear anything from our room. Owner gives the best recommendations for things to do at Dali. Breakfast was substantial in portion and extremely delicious. During one of my purchase, my alipay didn't work, and owner was kind enough to pay for me first before paying him back in the guesthouse. Deeply appreciated his kind gesture.

We absolutely loved our stay here. In the old town but very quiet at night and out of the hustle and bustle. The guy at the front desk was beyond helpful with recommendations on where to eat and a map for the cable cars at the mountain. There was free laundry services at the hotel. Breakfast was also great. We had a table and two chairs outside our room which was lovely. The room itself was huge and had a couch area which was nice. We loved it here and would highly recommend.

This guest house is excellently located and offers great value for money. It is a five-minute walk from one of the entrances to the old town. It is a very nice hotel and we had a fantastic, spacious room with modern furnishings, which was very clean. There was also a small outdoor terrace and a clothesline for drying clothes. The guest house is run by the owner and his wife, who had a young son. The fact that the owner speaks good English makes things much easier and allows him to recommend other places in beautiful Dali and the surrounding area of Lake Erhai: biking aorund the lake, visiting the nearby town of Xizhou (very beautiful too!) and Zhoucheng (a truly Bai village.) The owner also helped me with some glasses that I had lost on the plane, calling the airport in several occasions. On the day we left, he even took us to the airport in his own car, as he was picking up a friend a little later. If you go to this guest house, be sure to visit the restaurant next door, which specialises in mushrooms (although it serves many other dishes too). You can enjoy your mushrooms in a hot pot. It's a real treat that showcases the flavours of the region, and the staff are extremely friendly and happy to help you try new dishes

Quiet location. 2-3 minutes walk from restaurants and mini markets. Huge apartment and comfortable beds. A lot of toys for our kids. The owner provided free transfer from airport and helps us with prepaid daily taxi. English speaking staff.

Having to leave 🥲

It was an oasis in close proximity to the Ancient City South Gate but really quiet. Good supermarkets very close and a great street food market, just round the corner, appears in the evening 😊

I didn't like having to leave so soon!

This is pretty much the perfect hotel. Beautiful courtyard house in a quiet neighbourhood, but very close to restaurants and the south gate of the old town. Rooms are spotlessly clean, comfortable and well-stocked, and the breakfast is delicious! Jiuan and his family/team made us feel really at home.
