How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe host and the cleaning lady are very friendly and supportive throughout the stay. The common area is nice and enclosed, there is a pool and a mini gym. The refrigerator in the room and the fan was very much welcomed.
There is a local villiager pub where the local peasants gather to play Pool and drink, there was loud music from 2PM to 2AM every day during our stay. Something to keep in mind.

Verified reviewMy stay here was fabulous! The bus from Santa Marta stops directly outside of this hotel. I was greeted by the wonderful host and offered some local chocolates as a welcome. The room was very clean and service was top notch. Nice pool. Central location and very close to all the restaurants. If you´re looking to be in the middle of Minca where everythings happening, I would suggest to stay here.

Verified reviewThe room was small but was perfect for my needs. In the centre of Minca and with a small store attached to it. The owners were friendly and the hotel has a relaxed vibe to it. Had 2 fans which kept the room pleasant.

Verified reviewCouple that runs the place really put effort into helping tourists - they add you to whatsapp group with all the insights, you can either walk down to them or ask them things on whatsapp - really helpful. Room was OK, beware, there is no A/C - only fans but it was ok during the night there is a common area to spend time, a small kitchen is available.

The pool isn’t really a pool, just a shallow pit of water. Too many mosquitoes to hang around in common area (not a hostel issue). Fans in room were enough for sleeping at night

Verified reviewI'm a bit torn. The atmosphere of the place is really nice. It’s budget but mostly clean, and the location is perfect if you want easy access to everything—it’s right in the heart of Minca, next to the bus stop, close to all trailheads, restaurants, and shops. Still, it was quiet and peaceful in our room, with a nice courtyard to relax in. Free coffee is available, and you can also use the basic kitchen. The Wi-Fi is good, and the staff is nice and helpful. It’s a budget place with low prices, so don’t expect luxury, but the standard is still acceptable. There was also a fridge in the room. Love the cats ruling the place! :D Only cold water, but very common in the whole region.
The problem is—we didn’t get the room we booked. I had reserved the biggest room in the hotel, with a double bed, a sofa, a table, and other facilities not available in other rooms. We arrived in the evening tired. After being shown to our room, I immediately felt something was off—it had two single beds and was smaller and stuffy. But since the walls were the same blue color, the mirror was the same, and the red Coca-Cola fridge was identical, I initially thought I might have made a mistake. However, the next day, I compared the photos on the Booking page, and it was clearly not the same room. When I pointed out the mistake to the staff, they admitted it but only offered to move us for the last night (we had booked four nights) since the room we originally booked was already occupied. We had planned a challenging trek that day and expected to return late in the evening, so changing rooms (packing, moving stuff, unpacking again) for just one night before checking out the next day at 11 a.m. didn’t make sense. Instead, we were promised compensation—but in the end, we only received a refund of $2 per night. Even though I understand that might be worth more to them, for us, it was meaningless. The thing is, I would never have booked the room we ended up with, considering how many other options were available. The room was stuffy, it was very hot there also at night (fans very noisy), and we had to sleep apart in two single beds. I understand that mistakes happen, and I get that refunds can be difficult, but in that case, you need to find a way to make your customers feel less disappointed. And when I first brought up the issue, the staff didn’t seem surprised at all—I had the feeling they already knew about the mistake but, instead of approaching us and offering to move us to the room we had booked, they gave the biggest and most expensive room to someone else to get paid for it twice :( The bathroom standard was low but acceptable.
I think they enjoy writing the epilogue more than the places they "visit."

It could be quite hot in the room (as everywhere in Minca) but once you lugged in the two fans it soon cooled down!
