La Colina Hotel Cottage: A hidden gem on a hill in Bogota city!

It would have been great if the room had a TV or a speaker to pair with smartphones and listen to music, but it was perfect even without technology.

I loved this hotel! Located on a small hill in the north-west of the city, it's a good place to disconnect from your work or daily routine. The continental breakfast was complete, delicious, and generous. The staff was very kind and friendly. We had dinner there, and it was also tasty. The facilities had a lot of pieces of art, different sculptures and paintings; all of them were beautiful, and we were delighted to watch them. Our room was vast, and its bed was comfortable. I'll come back soon, of course!

While Colina Cottage offers a wonderfully cosy and personalised experience, the pricing felt a bit on the higher side. That said, the warmth, charm, and attention to detail might make it worthwhile for those seeking a unique and intimate stay.

At Colina Cottage Hotel in Bogotá. This cosy little gem redefines what hospitality means to me. Unlike the big chain hotels that can sometimes feel a bit soulless, Colina Cottage welcomed us with warmth and personal touches that made us feel right at home. Friendly staff such as Nairobi who remembered our names to the cosy rooms that felt more like a friend’s guesthouse than a boring large hotel chain. It’s proof that sometimes, the smaller places leave the biggest impression!

Hard to find at night. The sign is against the wall if you don’t see the entrance as it’s locked at night.

The staff (Nairobi, Rosana) and Federico (owner) were a very friendly and attentive. Definitely made my stay more enjoyable The breakfast was super healthy and delicious. The French pressed coffee was the best coffee I’ve had. The bed was super comfortable. The decoration of the farm house made everything more authentic and a pleasant change from staying in an Airbnb or regular hotel.

La Colina Hotel Cottage is one of my top 3 best hotel experieces ever
    • Leisure trip
    • Family with young children
    • Deluxe Double Room
    • Stayed 3 nights

I had *zero* dislikes, however, there might be a few things that may not appeal to all travellers: 1. La Colina is nestled in the Bogota hills, not immediately in the core of the city, and will require a bit of travelling time during rush hour with the city's (abundant) traffic. 2. For travellers that have specific preferences for facilities (eg. a gym, pool, etc.) may have to find other ways of getting in their workout (but walking up and down the hills at 2700m elevation is a great start! XD) 3. It sets the bar unrealistically high for other accommodations.

La Colina Cottage Hotel exceeded absolutely *every* expectation that I had. It's rare to find an accommodation that sets the standard so high across all categories (staff, facilities, food, cleanliness, comfort, value, etc.), and I can say without any exaggeration that this ranks among my top 3 best hotel experiences ever. 1. Staff: The owner (Federico) and his team are incredible. There are hotels that go above and beyond what one might expect from an accommodation, but of the 100+ hotels in which I've stayed, Federico (along with only 3 other hoteliers I've met in my travels) delivers a passion, enthusiasm, care, and attention that far exceeds what most could even hope for. 2. Decor/cleanliness: My impression of the hotel is as positive as my experience with La Colina's staff. Despite the warm, cozy, and welcoming atmosphere - the outdoor fireplace and seating area that overlooks the Bogota hills is the perfect place to unwind after a day of enjoying the city - the hotel feels modern and is decorated with a rotating collection of original art. The property and rooms are also very clean and well maintained, and make for a very comfortable, relaxing stay. 3. Food: As a night person who usually skips breakfast, it was worth getting up early for. Everything was fresh, tasty, and filling, and this might just be my favourite breakfast of anywhere I've travelled. As for dinner, while most seasoned travellers would recommend eating outside of your hotel, La Colina is well known for its food, and it is a testament to the quality when you see locals from Bogota dining and thoroughly enjoying their meals.

    Everything was great

Everything about our stay at this property was fantastic. We stayed the last few days of our trip after already having spent some time in Bogota. The drive into central parts of the city is 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic. This property is in a safe, beautiful, residential area that, while within city limits has more of small town feel. There are incredible panoramic views of the city from the property. There is also a park and shops/commercial area within walking distance. It is a perfect base for taking day trips outside of, as well as within, Bogota. The owners will assist with arranging transportation and tours and are bilingual. The food is delicious. There are also working artists within the owners’ family and an art studio on site. They collect art, as well, and it will surround you during your stay.

    That we had to leave!

The owners! Young! Hip! Kind! And very willing to make you’re travel experience a memorable, worry free vacation!! The staff is awesome!! The chef Tamara is caring! Kind and an exceptional chef!! My god! Her food is delicious 😋 the food flavors explode in savory dishes she prepares fresh from the open air kitchen they have at the property.. all staff members are respectful, attentive to all of you’re needs without imposing! Everyone there make you feel special! I was truly impressed!! Now the property is off the beaten path and not much activity around the area. You would need to take a taxi or rent a car, and there is no TV.. but so very worth the experience within the walls of the beautiful property!! During dinner they put some nice music! Light up the chimney and each dinner table had rose 🌹 petal and a bouquet of flowers 💐 for a romantic dinner!! Thank you 🙏 for making our time memorable.

there was nothing we didn't like

Our stay at the hotel was exceptionally great. Very nice owners, with whom we had an interesting discussion and also learnt something about Colombian and Panamanian history. the facilities in the rooms are great the location is extremely safe. and the food and wine are really great. we felt very comfortable and in good hands. the only small downside is that the city and especially the old town are a bit far away, but in a city the size of bogota, everything is far away. it was definitely worth it and we are very grateful. if you take a taxi, you should make sure you choose a newer taxi as the old ones and the buses sometimes have problems with the mountain :)
