We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. AustraliaThis overall stay was 10/10! The rooms are super clean and comfortable, and the hospitality and warmth of the owner and staff was some of the best we’ve experienced in Colombia. Besides for all that, the cacao tour was amazing!! It’s a must do if you visit - you learn so much about chocolate and I feel like I’ve gained such a new appreciation and understanding for it. It was a 3 hour tour which shows you the full process to produce chocolate and the love and effort which goes into it, as well as a tour of the farm. And not to mention the best part, you get to try lots of delicious chocolate at various stages of the process.

ColombiaThis is one of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed at. It’s a place designed to disconnect from everything and reconnect with yourself, plus Polo was such an incredible host. Totally recommend La Selvita!

GermanyWe had such a wonderful time at the beautifully located Finca La Selvita – a place we’d love to come back to anytime. For us, it was the perfect spot to relax and just enjoy life. Surrounded by kind, warm-hearted people who create a super welcoming, family-like atmosphere. Every single day, we were blown away by the insanely delicious, creative, and diverse meals. The chef is a true artist! Everything was vegetarian and made fresh from the garden – just amazing. And the chocolate? Straight from their own cacao – a real treat for the senses. The chocolate tour made us realize just how precious and special the process really is. I definitely appreciate good chocolate so much more now! Also, fun fact: we had the most beautiful bathroom of our whole trip here! Can’t believe something so stunning exists right in the middle of the jungle. Thank you all so much!

GermanyThis place isn’t just a hostel – it’s a home, full of the kindest and warmest people who welcomed us like old friends. We honestly had the best time, everything was just perfect! The place itself is absolutely beautiful – hands down the nicest one we've stayed at during our long trip through South America. You can tell every little detail was created with so much love. But the highlight (besides the cacao/fruit tour and that insanely good chocolate) was the cook, Alvaro. He blew us away every single day! Inspired by the surroundings, fresh homegrown ingredients, and his pure joy for cooking, he came up with something new and amazing every time. Huge thanks to Polo for creating this little paradise – we’re so grateful we got to visit and spend such an unforgettable time here. It’s a hidden gem in the jungle, and still not far from the ocean! Wishing you all the best for the future!

United KingdomBeautiful location in the mountains, with so many incredible plants, fruits, birds. Polo and Alvaro, along with the few volunteers, make a fantastic team, and there is a lovely atmosphere. It's very relaxing, and you can chose to go out exploring (Polo can give you great recommendations), the Finca tour is a must, and you can just spend your time relaxing in a hammock looking at the gorgeous view. The food is also very good, so many delicious and exotic ingredients taken directly from the farm, and there is so much passion that goes into it. Thank you for the wonderful experience!!

FranceExplaining better to the guests how the food ordering works. The water pressure in the dorm shower.
I liked about everything at La Selvita! The food, breakfast, lunch and dinner, were all delicious and creative! A mix of colombian and european influences. The fresh fruits from the Finca were very appreciated. The whole place is a paradise. Polo the owner was very nice and caring to our needs. The Chocolate tour was super interesting! We got to learn about the whole process and what makes a good chocolate, and learn about the plants, trees and flowers on the finca. The beds and pillows are confortable, which isn't always the case in hostels, so a real plus on that! The location is quite remote and up a little mountain so offers an amazing view of the jungle and the sea, and a peaceful environment to relax and rest. Though it's remote, you can easily do day trips to the beach close by. The bus is easy to get on and gives access to many beautiful areas to enjoy. Although the 20 minute walk to the Finca is easily done without a backpack, and so worth it, I would suggest getting a moto taxi if you're not in your best condition and carrying your luggage for the little hike.

United KingdomNothing at all! Maybe that now it’s harder to ever eat chocolate again in Europe after having the best homemade chocolate from Polo & Gaia😉 But we brought home some cacao beans to give it a go ourselves!🤞
A true gem & such a wonderful experience. Polo & Alvaro welcomed us with open arms. The story behind Finca La Selvita & Polo’s chocolate is remarkable. Our stay was so wonderful but also very thought provoking & truly inspiring - we got to really slow down✨ The Cacao tour was a real highlight - a botanical & fruits tour too which was so informative!🌿 Polo’s chocolate & his knowledge of the environment, plants is really amazing & I think it’s the best tour we’ve ever done.🌟 We loved the laid back & friendly vibe of the place & every night we looked forward to Alvaro’s amazing dishes full of Sorpresas! 😍 It was a truly magical experience & we cannot recommend staying here more. We hope to return one day for the best chocolate ever! Muchísimas gracias a todo en La Selvita 🥰

PeruWe had an amazing time at La Selvita. The surrounding nature and the finca itself is amazing! You will find yourself in a natural habitat with lots of nature and lovely designed rooms. Especially the fresh organic food is highly recommended and if you get the chance, you should also take part in the cacao tour. The owner planted more than 5000 Cacao trees himself and shows you the full process from the raw Cacao to making chocolate bars. We can fully recommend this lovely place and if we get the chance we will definitely return to this paradise. Thank you very much for having us!

GermanyThe staff and owner are making you feel welcome and at home directly. They put so much love in this project and in hosting you and you can feel and see it in all the details. The vegan food is the best food we've had so far on our trip in Colombia. The views are breathtaking. The location is in the middle of the jungle with a natural swimming pool with the river. The cacao and fruit tour is super interesting (highly recommend!). I can just recommend to stay here, we really loved it. Thanks again for everything. Highlight of our trip so far!

United StatesIt's all good. You are in a forest. No complaints.
Great place to spend couple nights and enjoy the experience of staying inside a forest with a view of ocean from the top. Be in good physical shape as you'll be walking on stone paved slight uphill road for about 25 mins. You'll be crossing 4 shallow puddles. I recommend good trail shoes. Flip flops is a big no no. I highly recommend Polo's cacao tour on his property. Get set for a different experience from the rest and one that you'll remember for many years going forward.

GermanyThis accommodation is absolutely amazing, pure magic! ✨ A little paradise in the middle of nowwhere with the best chocolate and the best host and team! Not only does the accommodation and the view feel like you've arrived in heaven, the surrounding nature is also incredibly beautiful and a paradise! The walk to the accommodation is so worth it, you will be rewarded with the freshest chocolate you will ever eat and a view of the sea that is incomparable. The beds are extremely comfortable (the most comfortable I've had in 3 months in Colombia) and the view from the hostel is priceless! This is your place to relax, recharge, connect with nature. I can also recommend the cacao tour with Polo, he not only shows you the complete cacao process, but also how much passion and love goes into his project and all the different fruits & plants on his land! The food is also an absolute dream! Three evenings that felt more like a Michelin-starred restaurant than a hostel. Alvaro & Polo have a magical menu every evening, con mucho amor! ❤️ For all digital nomads: You have the best Starlink internet and can even work in heaven. :D

United KingdomMy experience at La Selvita was very special and I hope to return at some point. The staff are wonderful people and made me feel so welcome and comfortable (as did the cats). Alvaro went above and beyond, thanks for everything!! La Selvita is very remote, out in the jungle with beautiful views of the sea. I had the perfect solo trip here for 4 nights of tranquility and nature. Every day I would look forward to the food as it was always something different and always made with are and love. Thanks again for such a memorable experience, I hope you're all doing well and hopefully see you again, Megan :)

Honestly, La Selvita is exceptional place! little piece of paradise in the middle of the jungle with beautiful view of the sea. Polo, the owner, was taking great care of us, serving delicious breakfast from local fruits and organic products. We also took his cacao/chocolate class with tour through the garden which made the experience even more special. I am definitely coming back one day !!! Merci, Simona

The surroundings and ambiance, the constant sound of the stream running right next to our open room, the different birds chirping all the time, the loose and relaxed approach of Polo and the rest of the staff, but extremely professional. The food presentation and flavours were marvellous and the chocolate Polo makes, exquisite. And of course Sildo and his helpful donkey.

Loved the location in the middle of the jungle and the view! You get to sleep pretty much inside the jungle but with the safety and protection of a stunbing natural place. Also, the attention is top! Thank you so much, we will be back! P.S: the walk (no car, if anything moto) to la Selvita from the road is 20 - 25min, with a natural pool to freshen up along the way. SwitzerlandNothing! Wish I could have stayed longer!
My stay was truly an adventure and absolutely worth every moment! The room matched the photos perfectly - minimalist, stylish, and cozy. The surroundings were simply breathtaking. Here, you could fully immerse yourself in nature and unwind completely. It was evident that Pollo had poured his heart and soul into this project, and it showed in every detail. Loved the chocolate tasting too! ... and yes, it's situated up the hill in the jungle, so a certain level of fitness is required, but the view from up there makes it all worthwhile.
