How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Quiet hours were at 10 so I felt worried about being too loud at night, otherwise super great!

Verified reviewGreat location in the old city center of Bogota. The hostel has a small outside part where you can order breakfast. The staff can also arrange airport pickup for you.
The breakfast staff could be more attentive.

Verified reviewThe staff were really friendly, nice breakfast, great shower, great location! The value for money was amazing.
Small room, but was fine as we were only there for 3 nights. They arranged our onward taxi, but we ended up going to the airport rather than the bus station that we requested (we did make our bus in time, and also not sure if error of driver rather than hostel!)

Verified reviewStaff- very nice and approachable esp. Emmanuel. The one who is always preparing a breakfast never missed on her 7AM duty. The location is very near to Plaza Bolivar. The people who are cleaning the hostel do their job diligently hence the hostel remains clean.

Verified reviewGranada is amazing and in an excellent location. It is close to all the great restaurants, grocery stores and museums in central Bogota. The staff are very helpful, friendly and kind. It is quiet after 10PM and the rooms are clean. The kitchen facilities are great for travelers that want to cook for themselves and there are plenty of pots and pans available for use by guests. The vibe in Granada is very peaceful and positive. You will meet travelers from all over the world. Highly recommended. I will stay there again for sure.
I had a great stay at Granada and I have nothing negative to add.

Verified reviewGood located and 24h check-in
Worn-out mattress, very small room and very noisy in the corridor from about 7am

Verified reviewIt’s a well-run backpacker hostel close to most major attractions with helpful staff, good common areas, a kitchen, and cafe. The quiet time policy is strictly enforced.
My double room was really small with a very soft mattress. They add an 8% charge for card payments.

Verified reviewSpacious and nice interior, but not very social
You can look directly over the toilet and shower stalls - they are very low, very uncomfortable

Verified reviewGreat location in La Candelaria district. Very close to most of Bogotá’s main attractions and there’s a safe feeling in the neighbourhood as the private university a few blocks away pays for private security. Also close to some excellent restaurants and cafes. The bed was extremely comfortable and the staff were friendly. I didn’t use the kitchen but it seemed very well equipped. I had the pancakes for breakfast and thought this was excellent value. It was around 3.50 euros for pancakes with eggs, syrup, a fruit bowl and a coffee. I’d stay here again!
The reception didn’t feel very well attended at times. I went there once and rang the bell three times and no one came. Maybe that was a one off, because the staff were all lovely when I did meet them!

Verified reviewAfter six weeks of traveling around Colombia and staying in many hostels, Granada Hostel in La Candelaria truly stands out as one of the best. The building itself is a stunning piece of old-school architecture, beautifully preserved and decorated with impeccable taste. Every detail—from the cozy common areas to the charming back patio—shows care and style. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. Sebastián, Liset, and the rest of the team were always cordial, friendly, and made the experience even better. The vibe here is chill yet social—perfect for both relaxing and meeting new people. If you're coming to Bogotá and want a memorable, comfortable place to stay, I definitely recommend this hostel!
Nothing I didn't like !!!

Verified reviewThe location is perfect! There is everything there from a restaurant to a bar. A pool table also and plenty of space to relax on a couch and read a book and meet other travelers. The staff is friendly and helpful and the building is very old, but well maintained.
Everything was great.

Verified reviewStaff is very friendly and is willing to help organizing transportation.
The walls can not prevent to hear every noise of the corridor or other rooms. In that way it is a pretty noisy to sleep there as people may come and go during the night.
