How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewGreat location in Getsemani and easy walking distance from all the historical sites and amenities (the laundry just down the street was great). The staff were really helpful and kind. I loved the reception area of the building, it felt like an oasis from the hustle of Getsemani.
The walls must be quite thin so you can hear sounds from neighbouring rooms. But I didn't spend much time in my room as there is so much to do in the area!

Verified review+ The staff is very friendly and helpful. We ran into a few problems (see the negatives), and they were dedicated to providing solutions. They went beyond what can be expected from a hotel staff and were always very nice. + The breakfast was good, but is served in a restaurant a few meters down the street, so you need to get out. The restaurant offers you a decent choice of breakfast options (it's not a free buffet), and they are quite good and belly-filling, but the service is terribly slow. + The street is closed to the historical center (five-ten minutes walk) and close to a supermarket. + Free coffee in the lobby is always appreciated. + The air conditioning worked perfectly. + Overall clean. + The place feels very secure. We could leave our luggage on the last day with confidence. + Wi-Fi was pretty good.
- We had a problem with a plug in the room that had been condemned and covered with a plastic thingie, but one of the screw to hold the thingie in place was in contact with the former plug. Our 18-months daughter touched the screw (we had no idea what it was then) and received an electric shock. The issue was fixed the following day, but it should never have happened. - The room was very small (a 3-adult room), with no windows. - The sink was poorly attached to the wall, and we always feared holding onto it, as it looked like it could have fallen. - The soap carrier in the bathroom was not functioning and if you put anything on it, it would fall apart (not a big deal but it does contribute to the overall feeling of shakiness). - There was a missing battery in the remote control of the TV, and when we switched batteries between remote controls to turn off the TV, it didn't work anyway (again, not a big deal).

Verified reviewAC worked perfectly for us, staff was always at the desk available, and the place was in the heart of jetsemani walking distance from the wall city. I valued these features very much.
The ‘’kitchen’’ they offer wasn’t nice at all, all opposite. It was super dirty and lacked organization, it is really not possible to cook there. It was located at the top side of the building, so it is very hard to spot unless you go all the way upstairs. I needed a spoon at some point so I went there and that is how I realized the status of it. I hope management reads this to improve it. Not a big deal for my stay, since I wasn’t planning on cooking anyways.

Lack of hot water. It seems to be the case in all of Cartagena as they feel being in a warner part of Columbia they dont need hot water.
