Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesThere were barely any other travellers and virtually no one to talk to. The salsa classes had been cancelled and there were no other events. I don’t think the vibe shown in the photos matches at all how dead it was. It was also quite a long walk from pretty much anything other than restaurants; I stayed in San Antonio afterwards and much preferred it there. Also, while I was staying at the Pelican Larry, my bathing suit was stolen (it was hanging on my bed to dry).
It was nice to have a kitchen and laundry services, and there weren’t that many people staying so one night I had the (spacious) room to myself. There was a big closet too, so it was easy to organize my things. The staff were nice.

United KingdomBreakfast was so chaotic. Said it’s served 7.30-9 but in reality everyone gets served at once at 9 and if you’re a minute late you have to pay. We got served quickly but there were people who had been there way before us who weren’t happy. On our second morning we wanted to leave at 8.15 and we waited 45 minutes whilst they produced the mass breakfast again so didn’t get the free breakfast despite being there within the time frame?
Nice social vibe without being too loud, salsa lessons offered which was cool! Room was clean and bathrooms were good.

United KingdomThe double room has a big gap above the door which leads to the kitchen and common area so we could hear everything - which is fine during the day. However twice in our 4 night stay, the rules weren't adhered to and the area wasn't closed at 11pm so we could hear, laughing, talking, cleaning, loud industrial washing machines etc until way past 1am, and also see the bright light through the curtain. The gap also meant that mosquitos would come through no matter what, which was frustrating. Dorms may be better. I believe it's one of those rooms that the staff don't realise the issues as they haven't stayed there themselves.
Good breakfast, good sized room and location close to nice bars and cafes.

United StatesCali is one of the more dangerous cities. This hostel is in a safer area but you'll still hear stories of people getting robbed. Don't walk around at night. Take an Uber or taxi.
Guests and staff were great.

United KingdomLack of mosquito barriers, our private room had a large 30cm gap above the door so there was no way of stopping them and also wasn't sound proof. They ask you to check in online which takes ages but they didn't even receive it so had to scan passports anyway- don't bother doing that!
Friendly staff, overall just good vibes. Good social area - long table, hammocks and good communal kitchen. Salsa studio attached with classes and great teachers!

United KingdomThe kitchen is closed until 7 am, which is annoying for us early starters!
The staff were friendly and chatty. When my bus was cancelled, they had no problem checking me in for another day. The location was walking distance to everything I wanted to see.

United StatesIt's a well established hostel, but a bit run down. There are broken floor tiles, loose door knobs, poorly running toilets, etc. For the price, you can't go wrong, but if you're looking for new or upscale, this isn't the place.
Good trade off location: closer to the bus station than other popular hostels, but a little farther from popular stuff to do. Great breakfast: although it wasn't ready at the promised time, it was worth waiting for. (Coffee/tea, eggs, toast, cheese and fruit.) Salsa classes every day with other "going out" events scheduled.

ItalyThe second morning there was no one to make breakfast. We tried to reach the owner in booking and WhatsApp, no answer. Luckily a volunteer solved the issue by giving us the ingredients to cook our own breakfast, but we had to ask for it. But even after no one apologised for the inconvenience.
It's a nice hostel in Cali, with a good common area, a good kitchen, salsa class on Friday (but only if there are 3 or more people) Lockers and good enough beds. Clean

TurkeyNice friendly people at the reception. It was the new years eve and the hostel was very crowded. The hostel does not have too many spaces and the dorm rooms are only ok. The beds have no privicy no curtains or light system to make it comfortable. The kitchen is ok but lacks material. Nice hostel, fine but have seen better ones.

BrazilI got bad luck with people Incas sharing the room. They were talking and turning on the lights and drink at 3 am — there’s a 11pm rule. Besides that the kitchen was always dirty, the curtains are not real curtains and the is no space to keep your things safe, only small lockers in the corridor — half broken and half occupied.
Location is good

United StatesThe mixed dormitory, you definitely need the fan but the mosquitos would come and bite you late night whilenyour sleeping. This was my only complaint about this hostel.
Anthony was the best front desk worker you could ask for. He is a go getter and liked to learn english from me when we would chat. Would definitely do buisness again at the larry pelican hostel.
