How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewHotel Hukumeizi is a very special and magical place!!! In the nowhere ... very calm and quiet. Lovely people on site. We stayed longer than planned as we felt so comfortable and on ease and did not want to leave. Highly highly recommended. The road to get there was stressful but it was worth it.
Don't go there by low car.

Verified reviewAwesome remote location. Expect unpaved dirt roads through lush jungle forest and crossing a stream. You’ll be rewarded with a tranquil sanctuary with a sacred river. The light hits different here. Jorge is super responsive. The food is amazing — clean, fresh, creative, delicious. Great WiFi connectivity.
It should be expected that you’re in nature and there will be bugs. This is not unexpected or an issue for me personally but guests should be aware. There is no A/C but sleeping with door to balcony open with the curtains drawn closed helps. You’ll be lulled to sleep by the babbling river. Hukumeizi is not super close to Minca, getting there requires a mototaxi or 4x4 (to get through forest to the main road) — again not an issue for me but consideration of future guests.

Verified reviewRemote but beautiful location in the middle of the jungle. The (very clean) river is directly in front of the rooms and perfect for a refreshment. Jorge is an amazing host that is always there for any question you have or support you need. The food also deserves mentioning it was absolutely amazing! Perfect for some relaxing days.
Due to the remote location in the jungle there are of course many mosquitoes, but that is normal in the whole region.

Verified reviewThe food and the staff were exceptional. The rooms were very nice and the access to the river is a big plus.
Nothing. Everything was perfect.

Verified reviewBeautiful property in the middle of serene, secluded nature, but just a quick moto ride away you can explore the town of Minca; lovely to connect with the other guests and hotel staff (as well as the adorable dogs living on property) over absolutely stunning dinners; everything about the space was intentional and designed with love!
Everything was perfect - but do be aware it’s down a long dirt road with some river crossings and is quite secluded, as well as integrated with nature - absolutely beautiful for me, but perhaps not for the guest who prefers something a bit more urban/commercialized

Verified reviewA truly extraordinary experience. Writing a glowing review feels almost like betraying a secret. Part of this place’s magic lies in its quiet, under-the-radar charm. But some experiences are too special not to share. It’s no small feat getting here. Halfway along the dusty back road that leads in, you either have to cross a river by 4x4 or venture on foot across a rickety wooden bridge. Not quite as prepared as we should have been, we enlisted the help of some friendly locals to reach the final stretch. The crossing felt like a quiet test, almost a spiritual gateway, as if the river were deciding whether you were worthy of entering the magical realm beyond. It felt like something out of Lord of the Rings. On the way back, crossing that same river felt like the end of a great adventure and a reluctant return to reality. Bittersweet. We swam in the river, unplugged from the noise of modern life, and rediscovered the joy of life's bare essentials — things we’ve largely forgotten in an age of constant distraction. My partner had the chance to share a meaningful moment with members of the Indigenous community, which added a profound layer to her experience, as a Colombiana. For me, the highlight was the intimate dinners: shared meals in a communal space with fascinating people from around the world. Jorge, the host, is nothing short of exceptional. The dishes he and his small team prepared, using inventive techniques and local ingredients, weren’t just among the best I’ve had in Colombia but among the best I’ve had anywhere. If Jorge ever set his sights on opening a restaurant in the UK, I’ve no doubt it would be a huge success. But selfishly, I hope he doesn’t, because what he’s created here is something far rarer and far more magical.

Verified reviewHad the most fantastic stay at Hotel Hukumeizi. From the amazing food (most of which they grow themselves or source nearby, and you can tell), to the location, surrounded by nature, waterfalls and swimming spots at your doorstep, our stay here was absolute respite! Jorge & Co are building something special here, and we’re grateful we had the chance to experience it.
Only that we couldn’t stay longer!

Verified reviewThis place massively surpassed our expectations! Jorge and the team were incredible, the food was unreal and the experience was so relaxing and peaceful. They really have something special here and I can see it only getting better. We feel honored to have spent time here. The natural waterfall, swimming spots, locals and views were such a treat, we even saw Monkeys! (Additionally they sorted all our transfers which was super helpful)

Verified reviewAbundant nature, in the middle of the forest in Minca.Large comfortable rooms. Great Value.
The road to get there was rough, but I enjoyed riding it on the motorcycle. That's the main thing to consider here you need an off-road vehicle to get there. Management can arrange it for you.
