How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewIf a hostel could be perfect then this would be the one. This is a lovely peaceful oasis near the scenic town of Barichara. Great food prepared by Flo, with an attentive demeanour towards guests. It was the best three nights to relax and experience the nature of Colombia without being eaten by mosquitoes. Once you get settled you can take the regional bus into the town and back. Or just stay put and go for some walks around the property. There is Starlink internet if you need to do some work and I loved the outdoor shower. I will return as soon as I can!

Verified reviewLoved everything about it. The nature, the copious amount of birds, the owner was really kind, the staff were always greeting me with a smile and the whole place just hade an incredible atmosphere. It was perfect to relax after having spent time in Bogotá.
The bus to get to Barichara was full on two occasions so they couldn't pick me up to go to the town.

Verified reviewThis is a unique place, hand-built by the owners with natural materials and beautiful techniques. The location is absolutely stunning in midst of nature. The perfect place to go on hiking explorations to small villages, see Barichara and relax. The staff is very friendly and super helpful with any requests! Flo also guided us in re-planning our journey through Colombia sharing his experience. Plus the food is delicious and all of it home made.

Verified reviewExcellent location.Numerous opportunities for hiking.Subliminal cooking from the kitchen, spread over a wide área to chill out,the dormitórios and all out buildings built to local tradicional, note the ceilings in the dormitórios. To get there, you can get hourly minibus, a mototáxi or a toktok, its a 40 minute walk to Guane a delightful small village, with a mirador bar, nice walking on the outskirts of the village.Theres a 6km sendero between Barichara and Guane. The beds are super comfortable possibly orthopedic mattresses A splendic location to chill out.

Verified reviewI loved everything about this hostel. The owner and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the surrounding is stunning, the hostel is beautifully designed and the food is amazing! I could spend hours just enjoying the view from the kitchen or the hammocks upstairs. To get there from Barichara is easy and the ride is beautiful. Once you're there, it's easy to share a tuk tuk in case you feel like going back to the city (which I didn't, once I arrived at the hostel). I ended up staying much longer than I'd planned, which seems to happen to many people!
The only thing I didn't like was leaving this beautiful place!

Verified reviewNicely decorated, and very well located. Not to far from town. Nomad is a place to rest surrounded by nature and with exceptionally good food. The host, FLO, is the best. He would recommend nice hikes and trips nearby.
Nothing.

Verified reviewMy 2nd time here and it’s amazing! Everything is cool, safe and cozy. You need to come here if you are going to relax mentally. Far from the city, from the crowd. The journey may seem long, but it's worth it. This is a place for lovers of peace and quiet Thanks to all the people who make this experience so incredible.
It’s quite far from the city, so you should think better about your budget, if you plan to travel to the city often. Tuc-Tucs cost 16-20k per trip.

Verified reviewThe location is amazing, a bit out of Barichara in peaceful nature yet still easy to get into town by bus (3k cop) or Tuk tuk (~16k cop). The food options (for breakfast, lunch and dinner) are delicious and almost everything home made — really recommended to have at least a few meals at the hostel! Additionally, if you want to cook, the kitchen is also very well equipped. In the morning, you’re most likely woken up by the sunlight and beautiful chirping of the birds. The (private) rooms are comfortable with an outdoor shower to feel one with nature. If you want to do activities or explore in Barichara/San Gil, the super friendly host Flo and staff are well connected and very much willing to share their knowledge and help you to organize. We really enjoyed our stay and can only recommend you to also give Nomad a visit!

Verified reviewLovely views, nice spaces to chill in, bedrooms are nice and outside showers were great. The food is delicious and local. Staff are helpful and accommodating.
All of the chill out spaces shut at 9.30pm which was a shame. Not a very social Hostel.

Verified reviewI don’t think we had the best experience at this stay, but I think we were unlucky. The things that were good about this hostel included: - a really good French restaurant that did great breakfast and a nice bourginon 👌 - beautiful location and it was very peaceful - lovely buildings, rooms and area with hammocks - comfy mattresses - nice outdoor showers
There was a few things about the hostel I didn’t like - I didn’t like having to pay for the hostel in cash especially as it’s in a remote location, the owner mentioned they are trying to introduce card payment though - the common areas and restaurant both closed at 8:30 when we were there so there wasn’t much opportunity to socialise. I think they are normally supposed to close at 10 though. - some of our towels and bedding/and the room didn’t feel the cleanest and our shower got blocked, but this is partly due to the natural setting and all the bugs - for me it wasn’t worth the far location from town and I was a little disappointed given the great reviews But as I said I think we were a bit unlucky as the owner was away.

Verified reviewGood place to spend a single night. The sunrise is great 😊
The location is terrible, the road was not in good condition. The breakfast was not included and was too expensive. The hotel doesn't offer shower soap. There were a lot of bugs around and inside the room.
Hey Denilson, I’m sorry to read that! We do try to offer a very unique experience to our guests, so it make us a bit sad when it’s not working. However, it is pretty clear that you didn’t check on us before booking and staying here. 1. I think you’re right in your title, it’s a matter of taste. You say it is a good place for a single night, well we have guests that are staying 3 weeks here. 2. We are a countryside hostel, which mean we are away from city center and focusing on nature and disconnection. You find our location « terrible », well we found it perfect! That exactly what we want to offer to our guest, being outside urban noises and closer to nature, looking at the beautiful mountains. So again, you didn’t check on us before your arrival. On booking you have our exact GPS location and a big message explaining you what type of hostel we are and what is our concept. Speaking of nature, yes, there is bugs, toads and 30 species of birds here, and we are happy to share space with them, that also why you have mosquito net on every beds here. If you’re not a big fan of that, which we totally understand, well better staying in the city center for your next trip. 3. We offer home made breakfast starting at $15.000COP, 3.8USD which we believe it’s a fair price when you know that we are making all the product, including bread, yogurt and pretty much everything on the menu ourself. But if you find it expensive, which is totally fine, we’ve been traveling on a budget too, well you have a fully equiped kitchen to cook your own food, so on that matter I don’t think we can do much more. When you booked in booking, it is clearly written that breakfast is not included, so why being surprised? 4. And last but not least, we are an HOSTEL, not a HOTEL, it’s written in our name. It is very different, we are not including soap in our rooms, people bring their own, we have dorms and shared spaces, to help people meet together and know each other, and we are half price of an hotel. So as a conclusion, you don’t wanted to be outside the city, you’re not a big fan of nature, and you where looking for an hotel with breakfast included, not an hostel, so why did you choose us? Make sure to check on the concept of the place your want to stay at, it will save you an unpleasant moment. Every single aspect that you dislike was clearly explain on our booking page before you make your reservation. PS : You say that sunrise and view were nice, maybe our location is not that « terrible » at the end ;). Have a safe trip!

Verified reviewIt is a quiet place to rest, it has everything you need to have a good time, my room had a private bathroom and an outdoor shower, everything was very nice, there were 2 cats in my room and since I love cats, it was a beautiful welcome for me. I love sleeping with the noise of nature and according to the data from my watch I had an optimal sleep here. (I don't usually have optimal sleep). The food was delicious, the attention from Flo and staff was unbeatable.
Although I love the noise of nature, there was a bird whose sound was quite harsh in the morning. But nothing serious.
