Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Portugalwalls are very thin and you can hear other guests all the time. Especially if they're loud. It's set in one of the main streets wall to wall with restaurants that make a lot of noise until 11pm/midnight on weekends. It's not the hostel that is loud. Staff are great and respectful On the side note: Salento is very very loud. Like nobody respects silent times. Not even the church that pays loud Ave Maria and cheesy songs from 6am. I'd say a stay away from the main square would be advisable,
The staff is very nice, caring and they fixed some of the things that were lacking in the room when I arrived. The whole hostel is cute and nice and they do make an effort to make us feel comfortable. Rooms need to be spruced up. Decent hangers and shelves/drawers for clothes are essential. The view form the back courtyard is awesome. Also nice to do some work during the daytime, if you're working.

BelgiumThe room was not so well isolated. You can hear the neighbours and streets outside. For us it was not really a big issue.
Cute, old house. Has a lot of charm. The room was very affordable and in the middle of the center.

BelgiumThe weekend nights were a bit noisy
The hostal is situated very close to the city center. The personel is very friendly, the rooms are very clean and the beds are good. There's a good hot showers! Places to have breakfast nearby the hostal. Good price quality balance

Irelandthe building itself is a little old and there is quite a bit of street noise from cars & roosters however most buildings In salento appear similar.
the location was great (about 9 minutes walk from the bus station & 1 minute walk to the main square, so very near cafes, restaurants, shops / ATM. Towels provided. we were a group of 4 and given a full 8 bed dorm to ourselves, so we had lots of space. the hostel is nice and quiet as it is run by a family. there is a fridge you can use. However, there are no other kitchen facilities. showers and toilets were cleaned regularly

United KingdomNo communal kitchen to use. Also felt a little like we were intruding on the owner's family home and we didn't feel really welcome there.
Good location near main square, big room, really nice views from back of property. Good value and pretty quiet.

NetherlandsMake sure you receive a lock and keys upon arrival. We did not get these and were locked out one evening.
Very nice owner that is super helpful and flexible. Also very well-priced. Plus, the views from the garden are amazing. You shouldn’t expect a luxurious stay, but the price, owner and view make up for it.

Spainall ok
As Salento is small, everywhere is central. The hostal is only 100 m from Plaza Bolivar and yet in a quiet street. Got a room with a mountain view (and birds singing in the morning), a warm bed cover and plenty of hot water for the chilly evenings and to get the mud off after Cocora. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Good wifi. Altogether top for the price, extended stay. Big thanks to the super friendly personnel.
