Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Quite a lot of mosquitoes in the room, there was probably an opening from where they could come in, we were happy to have our own mosquito net to use during the night. The filtered water is not for free in the hotel which is surprising as we spent the week in a previous hotel which was much cheaper than this one and provided unlimited free filtered water. All in all, good hotel but not the best value for money out there.
We only spent one night in this hotel but it was a nice stay. Great to have A/C in the room, very quiet as the room is located in the garden, not facing the street. Friendly staff and excellent pizzas in the evening. The breakfast was also good

The bathroom seemed like it was a bit outdated and needed slightly better cleaning. The shower needed a shower head and needs to be pulled away from the wall. You have to stand on the wall to get wet, which is bad.
Great location in the Bahia. We enjoyed the whale watching tour with a local and were taken to some great locations. The breakfast was good.

They helped me organise a tour to Utría and it was great, my guide Jaime was fantastic. Great location, fast WiFi.

The WiFi can be spotty, but this is not at all a reflection on the property (in fact probably it's one of the better places for WiFi!), it's just because they are doing works in the town that disrupts the grids. (And I'd been told to not expect WiFi in Bahia Solano, so it was a bonus!)
Really lovely place right on the ocean front, I only was able to stay 2 nights but I felt so at home there, and would have happily stayed longer! So welcoming, with nice areas to relax. Everything was super clean and well kept. And they have WiFi! Really good breakfast too!

Very nice place in Bahia Solano. The owners, Enrique and Nancy are well connected to local tour operators, so they help organise various activities, such as the stay by the Mecana indigenous community, bird and whale watching. Bird watching with Julian Parra was faboulous - he is such a mine on information on birds and he is able to spot them on every corner.

On my second day, the tv was removed from the living room of guests and even though I mentioned I liked to watch tv at night they didn't care because they never put it back. Tour suggested by Enrique to ensenada de Utría was overall good, but I think the guy who took me to see the whales didn't put enough effort because he was hungover that's what he mentioned during our lunch, so I detected lack of professionalism from his end, you don't drink the day before of the tour and arrived 2 hours late the next day for the tour. Moreover, I found out the girls in my tour were also drinking with the guy from the tour.
Breakfast was tasty every day, and host Enrique was a kind person too, so as the rest of the staff. The place was really clean all the time and the view from the second floor to the beach so relaxing.

> Check-in was OK, we had the feeling that everything offered (tours) was overpriced though. > Shower equipement is very poor - despite the town, at least a showerhead would have been appreciated > Can get very noisy in the morning as it is by the place where fishermen park their boats > The worst part being : we had to change room as a mistake had been made, which would have been OK if the tenant had not decided to move all our stuff without our consent while we were away ! No apology, no commercial offer to compensate the inconvenience...
