The kitchen is not very well equipped and the dorms get really warm because the windows are really small. The air is really bad at night too.

Nice people and staff, breakfast is included and you're right in El Poblado. The price is good for the area and the chill areas are okay. Pretty clean for a hostel where a lot of people party.

Didn’t enjoy moving beds. Arrived from Panama at 1am after travelling all day. Got up at 2am for the bathroom and someone else got in the bed so reception had to find another one in a different dorm. Went out the next day and some of my stuff was in reception when I returned. Got another bed. Went out for dinner came back and someone else was in my bed. Got another bed. The staff are lovely but maybe they should try coding the rooms with colours and the beds with numbers and doing a spread sheet be a lot easier.

In the morning there were lots of noises on the busy street. My bed sit directly in front of the window and the blinds did not block street lights nor sunlight. Luckily I had my sleeping eye mask. The room was a bit warm even with the fan on. The fan is a bit noisy as well.

Great location that's close to everything and the staff are friendly. I liked that my room had a toilet for our use.

It wasn't the most social atmosphere, but there are plenty of other hostels in this neighborhood, so it'd be easy to find somewhere else to meet other travellers.

A decent place to spend one or two nights in the Poblado/Manila neighborhood. The breakfast was a decent size portion, and included both coffee and fruit juice. The hot showers were very welcome (after 2 weeks of showering under cold water elsewhere!)

I don't understand why it has such a good score on Booking. To me the furniture ( bedrooms, bathroom, bedsheets) is old, some showers/ lights don't work. The photo of the breakfast on Booking probably is an old one because in reality there is a nice lady preparing you a plate for breakfast. There is no AC, each bed has a (noisy) ventilator, it gets hot during the night.

The rooms are a bit stuffy and the beds are not great not terrible.

The hostel is well managed, the space is small but well organized and there after plenty of common areas. Cooked breakfast is a nice addition.

Most of my gripes are just gripes you'd have with any 6-person hostel, really. Roommates might be noisy while you sleep, the beds were okay, little privacy, etc. The rooms got stuffy, BUT at least my room had both plenty of fans, and a big industrial fan you could leave on to circulate the air. Bring some kind of noise cancelling. Roomates can be loud. Silence is enforced after 12pm, but before that there will be music and crowd noise. The fans are also loud, but not unpleasant. The bathrooms were never particularly dirty, but the urinals do have a pretty unpleasant sanitary cake that would kind of burn your eyes. Not the biggest issue though.

The staff was very helpful The location is 10/10, at a perfect spot between the metro station and the rest of El Poblado. Great businesses right beside the hostel, too. Price is great. Great breakfast. Plenty of lounging areas given the relatively small space. Good internet, and decent (but not silent) places to do remote work. If you need to have a meeting, you're better off going to a nearby cafe or hope you're alone in your room. Prices for amenities like soap were not obscene. Alcohol prices at the included bar are obviously not store-cheap, but they aren't really that much higher. A 20k bottle of wine was sold at 30k in the bar. Laid back atmosphere, most guests were very happy to meet up and socialize.

Purple Monkey is a really chill hostel with a cool vibe and nice people (both staff and guests). There's everything a backpacker can ask for - free wifi, comfy beds, lockers for each guest and they can do your laundry for a very reasonable price. You can also book tours through the hostel.

WiFi connection a bit unstable at times, lockers under bed in rooms sometimes difficult to pull out as they are a bit noisy and big!

Plenty of showers, individual fans for each bed and a good common area to chill out in. Breakfast is simple and good. Good location, walking distance to El Poblado airport and really helpful front desk staff. I really enjoyed my stay here.
