We had perfect days at Ranchería Utta. We stayed for three nights, but if I had known how special the energy of Cabo de la Vela is, and how serene and comfortable the ranchería would be, I would have stayed longer. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, and everyone who works there is kind and helpful. The lodge is beautifully maintained, and the room was spacious and extremely comfortable. I will definitely come back someday — everything was truly special. A heartfelt thank you especially to Gabriel, Andrés, and Will, with whom we had the most contact. A big hug!

wonderful position, lot of atmosphere, a unique place you really feel immerse in the local culture, in contact with the local population and learn about them one evening I joined a cultural event to learn more about the Wayiu, who are the indigenous in that area

the bungalow was not sealed, and since it was strongly windy a lot of dust came in, and there was constantly a layer of sand was on the bedsheets, luggage, etc., and the bathroom is quite spartan but fully functional beware that they do not accept credit card and there is not ATM machines in town, so be furnished with the necessary amount of money upfront

Simple, neat, clean. No electricity in the huts during the day but only after 5pm. You don’t go to a place like this for the luxury. There is a standing fan which comes very handy in the evenings. The towels were very fresh. The hammocks are being put upon request at the porch. Great feature.

I believe more could be done regarding the learning about the Wayu people and the indigenous community in the area. You travel for almost 1 full day in harsh conditions to reach this special place but there is no real connection to the surrounding. Also there should be more transparency with regards to the costs of the 4x4 transfers of the local drivers. We were charged a hefty amount by the driver Michely with no ability to negotiate. The fares should be written/published at the Rancheria, so guests are informed and protected.
