How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Verified reviewThe Stuff was very friendly and also the breakfast what you get is nice. You can choose between pancake or arepa. Comes with an egg and banana.
There were some hairs on the bed when I arrived. But that was not that bad for me.

Verified reviewI enjoyed the staff, relaxed, helpful and very kind. I liked the pleasant colors and aesthetic. I liked the bike lane nearby! Breakfast was yummy and fresh! Felt safe and cared for. 24/7 staff is incredible.
The little mosquitos in the bedroom, and the lounge area are annoying. The location doesn't have many other things to do nearby. it's mostly residential.

We apologize for the mosquitoes in our hostel, but we inform you that Medellín has a temperate and humid climate, which means that during the rainiest months (March, April-May, and October-November), humidity increases, creating ideal breeding conditions for mosquitoes. We are working to improve this issue.

Verified reviewThe room was so unbearably hot at night, I barely slept. I asked if I could have a bottom bed, told me they are all reserved. Woke up in the morning & nobody had used any beds, absolute joke. Just unnecessary & illogical admin protocols. I would have stayed longer if I had slept well because it's close to where I swim. NO SLEEP = NO MONEY 🤑 💰 & IVE GOT PLENTY OF THAT U POS
It is extremely important for Spring Hostel to read your comments as it allows us to improve some aspects and, on the other hand, respond to your concerns. We are sorry that you were not able to take the lower bed but unfortunately they were already reserved and we must comply. When you book in shared dormitories you should know that we are not obliged to provide lower beds since they are mostly the most reserved. Our protocols are clear to comply with our policies.

Verified reviewThis hostel has probably the cleanest kitchen we've ever experienced, simply spotless and well equipped. In general the hostel is really clean. The patio area is really nice. The Wi-Fi reception and speed was really good. When we had issues the staff went out of their way to help us. The beds were super comfortable!
The rooms are very badly soundproofed so depending on which room you have, it might get loud (due to breakfast/common area noise). When it rains only part of the patio can be used and it didn't end up being too social when we were there. The area doesn't have too much to offer, so once you've been to the few nice cafés and restaurants you need to head further out.

Location is far from any place of interest. The shower section of the bathroom is not private, people could see you from the neck up showering as it gives into the shared terrasse and in front of a shared bathroom too..
Thank you for showing us your agreement with our cleaning and our staff who do everything possible every day to meet all your needs. In relation to the bathroom, it has a ventilation system that only you can open if you want greater ventilation or close it when you shower. It also has a great height so that no one will be able to look at you while you shower since it is impossible.

The bed was gross, it had hairs and stains on there. Also people were walking on the roof or something so wooden bits came of the ceiling onto my bed. I had asked for a bottom bunk but when I arrived I got a top bunk anyway. There were only 2 bathrooms for the whole hostel with toilet and shower in there… so if people were showering you had to wait a while for your bathroom visit. Also the showers only had super cold water.

We have reviewed our messages and you never informed us that you requested a downstairs bed, we took advantage and informed you that when we decide to book in shared dormitories they are allowing us to share spaces, rooms, customs and toilets with other people. We recommend you book in our private rooms so you don't have to see other people's hair in the room. In relation to our cleanliness, we have been characterized by having a good score in cleaning, every day we clean the rooms and beds, our staff is constantly training to do the best job. We will take some aspects to improve to continue being one of the best hostels in the city.

Floor was definitely not cleaned in our room, there is no air flow in the room (no window or AC) and it’s a bit stinky there, not nice, very weird size of sheet which should cover 2 people but is like 140x250 cm and can’t really cover two of you properly
