This hostel surprised us! We are used to many different hostels, and this one was one of the best we have stayed in. There were many different types of common areas and gardens, even though its in the middle of town. A great shared kitchen, and comfortable rooms and hot showers. You could choose to be social or not. The staff was extremely kind - shout out Louis! The location was great for exploring San Gil, and for close walking distance to grocery stores, the local bus terminal that takes you to Barichara, etc. And surprisingly, the breakfast (which does cost extra) looks and tastes as good as it looks in the photos (which is unusual haha).

Nothing bad to mention

Beautiful hostel with literally everything you might need. Dorms had curtains and lights and lockers are available outside the room if needed. The kitchen is well equipped to cook meals and the multiple bathrooms were always clean (the downstairs ones have hot water!). For 17k you get a great breakfast and they also have a very efficient laundry service. The common spaces are the real highlight of this hostel: hammocks, pool, sofas, game room. The location in San Gil is perfect, close to everything and the staff is amazing, friendly and always available to help. I arrived very early after a night bus and my bed was available so they let me check-in hours before the official check-in time. Don’t hesitate to go!

Perfect place, especially the hammocks and the pool, where you can relax in the shade or sun after a day of activities. Lovely staff who helped us both with booking activities and also other stuff such as buying data for our mobile phone plan (which the Claro store for some reason failed to). Breakfast was phenomenal, with 5 delicious set options that you can choose from the night before. We booked a double room with a balcony, but it was just a French balcony that overlooked the small courtyard and the dining area, not any outdoor view. Two blocks from the town square.

Excellent hostel with lots of nice spaces to hang out. Top class ping pong table. Fantastic breakfast. Nice refreshing swimming pool. Most importantly - all of the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming.

Lovely big private room, nicely decorated and with an en suite bathroom. The garden and pool is a great place to chill and has a pretty view. Staff are really helpful in providing information about activities and onward travel - thanks Andres!

At check out I got charged for 19k COP - allegedly for breakfast (15k) and tour fees (which I had already paid for in full the day before). I don’t really know where this fee came from but I also didn’t really argue about it. My advice is: book tours and activities directly with the company just to avoid “tour fees” after the tour and, there’s a big price difference between booking with the company and the hostel.

The hostel is really beautiful and cozy. Room is very comfortable.

While I did not travel in the high season, there were not a lot of people in the hostel during my stay. The hostel had a WhatsApp group, that not many guests were using. From a traveler hostel I would have expected more activity / proactive organization of internal hostel events from the staff :)

Travellers hostel is a fantastic place to stay in San Gil. The location is great, staff is extremely friendly and helpful, everything is clean and well equipped (also the kitchen). I particularly liked the breakfast (option 2) and the many social areas, like a boardgame/ping-pong area, co-working space and the pool. I would definitely visit the hostel again.
