How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Verified reviewThe staff is friendly, beds are wide, lockers on top of bed
To be honest I don’t know how people can rate this place so good or to which standards they’re used to. It’s true that is a cheap hostel but The rooms are not equipped with keys, so anyone can enter, which I found super unsafe. It seems that is a hostel for weed smokers, which is totally fine, but I think it should be stated much better so that people who are not into this can look for other options. The toilets were pretty dirty. The tables in the common areas were full of leftovers from food from other people. My room and bed were literally next to the windows, which are not well isolated and therefore it was really noisy (you can solve with earplugs) but also quite cold because of the cold entering from the windows. Also the surroundings, I mean saying it’s great is exaggerating. Nothing to visit is close so you need to take taxi/ public transport. I was in la candelaria before and I found both the other hostel and the area much safer and better. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. I thought about leaving as soon as I started to feel this vibe, but then since it was just for one night I thought I could risk it.

Verified reviewGood location in Chapinero, nice places around to eat and cheap ubers to various attractions and hot spots. The dorm beds were nice and big/wide, with 2 pillows, a privacy curtain, lamp and a locker by the bed. Kitchen area was fine, nice for it to be semi-outside, and it had plenty of utensils. Good that there is a restaurant onside for breakfast, and an outdoor area to chill. Good wifi and shower
Only issues were the tap in the dorm bathroom didn't really work - it was just a dribble. Also I was in the ground floor dorm which was at times quite loud due to (inconsiderate) guests late at night and early morning, so bring ear plugs

Verified reviewThe best thing about this hostel is its convenient location, close to everything in Chapinero and easy to get to/from nearly anywhere using TransMilenio. The next best thing about this hostel are the extra large, comfy beds with good curtains, and a lamp, locker inside, so you have a nice capsule experience for sleeping. There is a basic outdoor kitchen available for guests, with a fridge for food storage, and supermarkets very close nearby.
Many of the lockers have twisted or broken latches, and this seems so easy to fix, but they don't. Your bed may have a locker you can't actually lock.. The shower rooms have soap, shampoo and conditioner dispensers but this soap is so watered down it is unusable. Does not make suds and drips right out of your fingers. Useless. The staff are not very quiet in the morning when many guests would still be sleeping, with lots of loud talking, repetitive cell phone noises/alerts. This depends a lot on which room you get. Staff also don't tend to stop rude guests from smoking next to the kitchen/dorm room windows, or watching TV at high volume in the common area. This could be a very, very nice hostel with a little more basic maintenance and empathy from the staff.

Verified reviewnice regular staff (not boss), great showers, big beds, no real indoors so usually cold, mehhh kitchen, decent location
My first bad review I’ve left for a place… To trip monkey higher ups & fellow Travellers TLDR - manager attacks & acuses me of something I didn’t do - doesn’t apologize - bans me from location & before that other staff lies to my face about rules that don’t exist - won’t tell me real reason till it becomes apparent from boss starting arguments when he’s 100% wrong & doesn’t apologize after being shown - The thing he thought I did: someone w the same name left a less than perfect review - HE BANNED SOMEONE FOR LEAVING A REVIEW HE DIDNT LIKE THEN TRIED TO ATTACKED THAT PERSON WHEN THEY CAME TO USE THE BATHROOM CAUSE ITS NEXT TO THE OUTDOOR GYM NEARBY - Likely say I was banned for some other reason cause a friend I’m telling this story to knows shitty hostel bosses do this as their go to move for reviews…what a sleeze ball - Actual hostel review: nice regular staff (not boss), great showers, big beds, no real indoors so usually cold, mehhh kitchen, decent location You look at my reviews and history it’s only positive or for promotions like a free towel, first time in my life I’m leaving a bad one in 3+ years full time travel To fellow travelers: if you need a cheap place this is enough, if you feel like joining solidarity against shit bosses go to hostel Macondo down the road, much better in person & vibe, beds are smaller & shower isn’t as good but it’s hot and the vibe makes up for the kind of stuff trip monkey pulls. Plus we’re having family dinners, getting lots of work done in the cafe area (which is all I tried to do at trip monkey btw, just work & literally not bother anybody and they still kick me out) and a much safer area of Chapinero To trip monkey higher ups: I hope all your other bosses don’t behave like that man.

Verified reviewThe hostel is nice, the beds are bigger than a twin bed and the curtains and private lockers are a plus.
I was made to sleep on a top bunk even tho my room remained empty for 2/3 of the nights out I stayed there. The WiFi didn’t work for the entirety of my stay and some other travelers mentioned they are regular visitors of the hostel and this has always been a problem.

Verified reviewNice facilities, double beds, hot showers, decent location
Terrible, terrible staff. Super unfriendly, I have had multiple friends make reservations only for the staff to tell them that the system didn’t register them. My friends ended up having to find another place to stay in the middle of the night. They insist on fixing the system, but it has happened multiple times over the past few months. Also, if you bring alcohol into the property, they will CONFISCATE IT. I would not recommend staying here.

Verified reviewGreat value for money and helpful staff. Also plenty of amenities. Bed was nice, big and comfortable. The area is great for parties and bars.
They don't like to take payment by card and will surcharge you. Even if it is not much, it is something I don't like. English of staff could be improved a bit. Not many touristic activities you can do in the area.

During a particularly challenging time, they went above and beyond their duties to provide support and assistance, showing remarkable empathy and respect. Their ability to handle difficult situations with grace and professionalism was truly impressive, and their dedication to ensuring guests feel welcome and cared for is commendable.
