The hotel has a perfect location, close to the beach and to the central square of that area of Recife, where there is a good restaurant and some festive activities take place in the evening. The staff was kind and efficient. The room was quiet, rather large, with a security box and perfect light for reading in bed: moreover, it had a lateral sight of the ocean. The bathroom was large enough and had an easy to use shower. Breakfast was great; I had dinner once in the hotel terrace and another time in the hotel restaurant: both times the food was tasty.

Only two elevators were working, not enough for a 17 floor building. My room and bathroom could have been cleaner when I arrived; the clening improved later on.

Beautiful place with a great garden, with friendly little monkeys that keep you company at breakfast. In a calm and lovely area near the beach, 15 min walk from the historic centre, over a hill but not difficult and well-lit at night. The service is kind and helpful with all needs, including boat trips and laundry.

The staff. The guy who did the check in wasn’t friendly at all. We hired transfer to the airport and he said it would be R$130. The next morning, we looked up on uber the price was R$60. We tried to cancel the transfer and he said it wouldn’t be possible, as the car was already waiting. We understood and decided to go with the hotel transfer, but my mom overheard the hotel staff calling her a “velha chata”, which translates to annoying hag. Not the treatment you expect from a hotel staff. She checked in on August 24th around 6-7pm.

The description and photos are misleading. The apartment has: - one average-sized bedroom with a double bed and some mattresses (this is what is meant as 'futon beds') up against the wall in a corner and - one small living area with a sofa bed. There is no second sofa bed. The size is good enough for up to 4 or 5 people, maybe 6 at a push, but I don't see how 10 people could be accommodated in the space. It is also quite dark and has no view as stated in the description, and overall feels a bit shabby and underwhelming. The most important issue for us was the lack of adequate bedding though, and the difficulty to convince the host that this was a problem. We were three people so we expected bedding for 3. The host had provided a fitted bottom sheet for the double bed (no cover sheet) and no sheets at all for the sofa bed where the third person was going to sleep. We alerted them straight away and they repeatedly denied that this was an issue. Originally they suggested we should have brought our own sheets, then went on to suggest that we were mistaken and that there were, in fact, sheets in the room and had us looking in cupboards or under the bed. Finally we managed to persuade them that they needed to provide sheets and they said they would send some in an Uber, but by that time it was 11pm, we were exhausted and our confidence in the host very low, so we declined and told them we would leave and request a refund. The host at that stage was very apologetic and suggested that a refund would be handled via booking.com. Since then they have refused to take responsibility, have offered no compensation and have generally been quite unfriendly. Overall our experience with this host has been negative and I would not recommend this apartment - there are much nicer options in the Flamengo area at a similar price. (I have provided some photos of the bedding that was provided.
