The location/setting with the gardens, we felt like in a small own national park with plenty of animals to watch around. The spacious room with security code locks and sitting area with views. Vicinity of good restaurants in walking distance. Three swimmingpools to chose from. Good Wifi throughout. Despite breakfast, especially the restaurant area being slightly disappointing, the offer is still a good value for money one.

Breakfast was OK but nothing to write home about.

The room was bigger than I expected as the description indicated it was going to be a very small room with a bed and bathroom. However each room has a small balcony with chairs and a great view to the jungle, the interior is also very spacious and cozy, well illuminated and the bathroom has a great size too. The pools were always clean, and the breakfast options were delicious. Bonus points for having vegan options!

I have no complaints about the property. It is absolutely beautiful and surrounded by trees and wildlife. They upgraded my room without me asking which was lovely. The breakfast was incredible. There are multiple pools, they are so nice and lots of places to sit around them. The staff were incredible and so helpful. The room its self was very luxurious, comfy bed, air con, and I had a patio table and hanging chair. Only a 15 minute walk from the beach or a bus stop right outside the hotel. Would definitely come back

It was a little pricey, but I was happy paying for the experience!

It has three swimming pools, all of which are big enough to do laps in. We had a great view from our room where we were able to see wild monkeys and other interesting wildlife, including some great lizards. It's within walking distance to the beach if you don't mind walking down, then up hills. Breakfast was very enjoyable with a lovely view.

The room was very basic. There weren't any english-speaking channels on the TV. When we asked for extra coffee for the room, we were told we would have to pay for it. One of the new staff members was very inflexible.

    Property response:

Dear Bernadette, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. The Setting of the Hotel within nature and lots of animals to observe, great yoga classes with Mike and Betsa and Karen (Sound Journey), really nice yogadeck

When I did the reservation weeks ago, I asked for a quiet room and got one very close to street, pretty noisy. The two guys at front desk in general not very helpful and polite. The worst breakfast I ever had in a hotel of this level, just a few prefixed options to choose from which came in poor quality and extreme small portions, coffee - in a coffeeland - poor quality too. Talking to one of the nice girls at breakfast service, indirectly they confirmed that owners of hotel dont care about service, wellbeing and quality at all. Something you feel allover the place, lot of potential to improve……

    Property response:

Dear Werner, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed the natural surroundings, the yoga classes, and our terrace—these are key elements of the experience we aim to provide at Alma Vida. Nothing !

Worst place I’ve been to in years. An absolute scam. The rooms were essentially storage areas that had been awkwardly converted – they were clearly never designed to be hotel rooms. The interiors were dreadful, with everything poorly built or dodgily adapted. Walls were paper thin and you could hear everything from the other rooms. On top of that, it was massively overpriced for what you get. The staff were very poor, and the breakfast was below basic

    Pools were okay

Pictures do not reflect reality. The reviews are somewhat positive, but questionable. The door lock is not secure. The pool bar and sky bar were unavailable and closed. The bathroom is very old and definitely needs renovation. There was a wooden plank under the mattress. It’s too expensive for the quality – $300 for 2 nights is not worth it. The vent is barely attached and almost falling down.

    Property response:

Dear Daniel, Thank you for sharing your experience. We're truly sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations. We’ve taken note of each of the concerns you mentioned, especially regarding the condition of the room and facilities, and we’ll be reviewing them with our team to take corrective action. The hotel is huge, with three swimming pools, huge green areas and it's so easy to see monkeys, iguanas, lizards, birds and capybaras. It almost makes a visit to the national park unnecessary. The hotel is undergoing renovations and, although I had booked a room without a private bathroom, I was given one with a private one, which we loved, of course, and we can only thank our luck. Perhaps they've simply done away with this type of room recently. However, you could tell that the renovations were recent and clumsy, as there were remnants of paint on the windows and even in the rubbish bin in the bathroom. Another less positive point is the lack of atmosphere - with so many swimming pools, there are two bars in the main one that are fully equipped and closed. All it would take is human resources and some ambient music and everything would be so much better. Curiously, during Friday and Saturday there were no events of any kind... but on Sunday at 7am they had live music during breakfast. It doesn't make sense. Overall, the stay was very good, it served our purpose perfectly, the location is excellent. It has the potential to be much better, because the structures are all there, what's missing is efficient management and an entrepreneurial spirit on the part of the new owners.

    Property response:

Dear Bruno, Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review of your stay. We're very happy to hear that you enjoyed the hotel's natural surroundings, being able to spot monkeys, capybaras, iguanas, and birds is truly a unique experience we’re proud to offer, and we’re glad you were able to enjoy it. We’re also pleased that you appreciated the upgrade to a room with a private bathroom. Whenever availability allows, we love surprising our guests with a little extra comfort. We appreciate your honesty regarding the signs of ongoing renovations. We're working to improve our facilities to offer an even better experience, and we’ll definitely share your comments with our maintenance team to ensure more attention to detail. As for the pool bars and event programming, we completely understand your point and truly appreciate the suggestion. At the moment, our main restaurant is open, and the other bars are scheduled to reopen in May, which will bring more atmosphere and life to our common areas. We're also working on providing a more consistent and guest-focused entertainment schedule. We truly believe in this place's potential and really value the fact that you noticed it too. Feedback like yours helps us keep growing, and we hope to welcome you back soon so you can experience all the improvements for yourself. Best regards, Alma Vida Team

We spent a few nights at this hotel, and overall, it was decent. There was some renovation work happening during our stay, so it could be a bit noisy at times. I imagine the newly renovated rooms would be of a higher standard than the one we stayed in. Our room was fairly basic and could have been cleaned better, particularly around the main bed area, with a bit more attention to dusting. The breakfast was good, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. There’s a nice yoga shala on-site, though unfortunately, no sessions were running during our stay. Still, it was a peaceful space to relax. The rooftop bar was also under maintenance, so we weren't able to enjoy that experience either. Great location, 5-10 minute walking distance to restaurants and shops.

Overall, the cleanliness of the rooms could be improved. It would also have been helpful to receive prior notice about unavailable facilities, such as the yoga sessions, rooftop bar, and potential disruptions from renovation work during our stay.

    - Lovely stay here during a visit to Manuel Antonio. The room had a very nice rustic feel to it with a nice comfortable bed. - The staff were really helpful. We were only here for one night so as we checked out in the morning to visit Manuel Antonio national park, they let us leave our bags after check out to collect on return. Finished earlier than expected at the national park but had a few hours before our transfer to Uvita, yet they were happy for us to use the pool and facilities while we waited. - The highlight here is sitting around the pool! We had parrots flying overhead, Toucan's landing in bushes next to us, iguanas and agoutis wandering around, plus deer just over the hotel wall.

Did not stay long enough to pick out any faults

Nice hotel but actually under renovation. Our room was really small but clean and already renovated - little dark during the day but had a really good lights in the evening. Good location for the Manuel Antonio national parc trip or a sundowner on the beach. There are many restaurants nearby with an ocean view. The rooftop bar just opened. After the renovation it could be a nice spot!
